I see alot of people who want to post a new topic on something new, but find it difficult to get backing.
I thought about it for a while and came up with a possible idea, which is to have a area where people can submit a poll where people can "vote" for that topic to be its own seperate forum.
When the poll gets enough votes showing that enough people are interested in it, then it can become a temporary forum section for a month to see how it would work.
If it has lots of new, on topic posts, then it can become official, if not, then it can be shut down by one of the moderators.
Just and idea, but I think this is a good way to give some cool forum ideas a chance.

That would require a lot of coding, and a lot of people to make it work.

Lego, nor Dakka, has that kind of time.

Would it be possible to just set up a seperate section in the poll forum. Then just have people vote on new ideas every week or whenever?
That would take much less time but still have the same effect.

You get the same effect by posting a topic and seeing if you get
responses.

Adding new forums is a lot of overhead and changes the dynamic of the site quite a lot, so we do not like doing it. It is usually pretty clear when a new forum should be added so we do it as and when it is desperately needed.
