So i want to start playing chaos daemons as my second army, but not sure what is effective or viable now, i'ma start with getting to 1000 points worth of stuff and then make my way to 2000.
What caught my interest with chaos daemons is bloodcrushers and such because i like the models, but in general almost all the models catch my interest ( except slaanesh fiends, they just look weird.) So i just wanted to know what you guys suggest for getting into Chaos daemons and what i can build up towards for having a tournament list in the future. And as for cash being an issue, it isn't really that much since this is something i'm going to be doing over time and not on the spot. Tho i will probably get a decent bulk of it with birthday money from this Friday (well after i pay for the forgeworld avatar of khaine).

I've always love doing a swarm army with my Daemons, as of late they seem to die quickly to pretty much everything.

But is that what is normally seen in tourneys?

Well the classic powerlist is Fatecrusher. That is, Fateweaver covering a lot of bloodcrushers with his bubble.

I can tell you its pretty good, tho I prefer running lots of troops instead myself.

Yea i've seen that mentioned on the web, and i'm a fan of the blood crusher model so i guess i should go with that, but what should i get to start. Like, for 500 point games what models should i buy to start, and for 1000 point, and so on and so fourth till 2k since i have no idea what to start on getting.

I heard a rumor somewhere, that Daemons were getting a new codex, plus a battleforce. If such a battle force is coming out i'll pick it up then for use as auxiliary forces for CSM apoc. games.

As a daemon player, I can tell you that this is a tricky army. Deepstrik is nice but its also your bane. You scatter and oh look, there goes your fat squad of crusher into some dirt, they all snap their necks and now your down a cruical unit.

But sometime it pays off.

I risk it most the time and drop them right infront of an enemy unit, just far enough so they dont assault me, and boy does it pay off. Its better to be safe though and place them using icons.

The most common list is Fatecrusher as previously mentioned. Use Plaguebearers as objective claimers and Icon bearers. They're tough as nails and hard a way with withstanding the most brutal of firepowers volleys.

As for models you should collect, pick up those crushers... they will serve you well. Next get a Fateweaver, totally worth his weight in gold/platinum. Next get flamers of Tzeentch. They will BURN DOWN THE WORLD IF THEYRE NOT STOPPED! I use flamers in a suicide group of 3-5 and drop them as close as possible. They ignore cover and armour so they will melt just about anything cept termies. Use them against horde armies.

After getting a good basis of those three units, you need to consolidate you desires. You want closecombat experts? Or how about things that just done freakin die? Maybe you just want to shoot the shart out of your enemy?

Thats where each troop choice comes in. Balance is good, but sometimes its just painful to bring an all nurgle list, or pure Khorne. Also look into daemon princes. They are a big must for daemons. Imagine having 5 MC running around hacking your opponents units and mechs into scrap and blood...

I can help you make solid lists for them once ya get you models. Also PM me and I might be willing to offer up some of my 7,500 pts worth of daemons for sale. If ya have any questions at all about the daemons I can fully inform you on their strengths/weaknesses before you go out and spend 1,000,000$ getting all these models.

Cheers

You can't go wrong with bloodletters. they are your bread and butter troop choice in most cases. You will also want some Flamers/Horrors of Tzeentch, as the are about the only shooty type unit you get. Blood-crushers are heavily used in most of the lists I've seen.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. Well, they've got a battleforce coming out real soon that should cater to a fairly balanced style of play.
