and, I've officially rage quit this game. I'd done everything I wanted to do in the game including be in on the kill of a Scorchbeast Queen. Even with the fact that the system crashes or the dreaded server not responding still appears 75% of the time when entering a nuke zone, I persisted. The absolutely final thing I needed to do was launch a nuke, so I spent my time resource farming for a good couple of days in preparation for a trip into the silo.

Not only have they nerfed Col. Gutsy to appear to have 100% armor penetration (a single hit from Col. Gutsy would take a 1/4 health wearing ultracite armor) and they have removed fusion core drops from the robobrain chassis robots. Regardless, 4 fusion cores, 300 rounds of shotgun ammo, 20 stimpacks, and 300 rounds of .45 later I made it into launch control room and right when the launch procedure perparations was moving to 100%..the game crashes back to the XB1 home.

Here's the kicker...my thought isn't that I'm mad because I didn't get to launch the nuke. I'm mad because it's going to take me 5-6 hours+ of farming to replace/repair my weapons, ammo and armor in order to ATTEMPT this again. I still think there's an awesome game under it all, but frankly it's not worth putting in the busy work effort for the insane stability issues..

Not nearly having gone to that much trouble myself, it took a lot less to convince me that the game is not functional on several levels and I don't see a reason to play at the moment. Last time was a quick look after a patch two or three weeks ago. Seems like they're patching in new bugs as well to keep the excitement up.

I'll give the game another go some time down the line if they can sort out the game breaking issues.

Waiting until March/April time frame when the game is $20 and I think I might pick it up just to explore around for like 10-20 hours in a Fallout world.

It will be interesting to see if Bethesda can recover from this with Starfield and Eldar Scrolls, Zenimax may be less inclined to let them remain their own company if those don't sell really well.

I wouldn't be surprised if it went F2P fairly quickly tbh.

Zenimax media is little more than a holding company for Bethesda, Zenimax Online and the other smaller studios they've picked up over the last decade or so. There really isn't a functional difference between ZM and Bethesda softworks, except on paper, so if one of the other studios goes down the others aren't affected, and various tax/ownership shenanigans.

The beth and zeni HQs are the same offices in rockville , Maryland. Zeni online is up closer to baltimore, and the bothers they've bought and scavenged, like id and arkane, are scattered more widely.

And really, the lesson of 76 is very good for ES6. Its 'stick to the bloody formula and don't waste time on this multiplayer garbage'

I didn't articulate what I meant well at all, you are correct Zenimax is basically Bethesda (founder of Bethesda created Zenimax) what I was trying to convey is whether Bethesda's name would still be considered a positive on a product in the future and whether Zenimax may change the name of some of the outside the Maryland Bethesda studios (Like Bethesda Dallas) to one of the other studio names they own or maybe future studio openings would have one of the other studio names. Zenimax owned studios have a fairly impressive title library outside of what Bethesda releases.

I think they'll stick with the name, rather than go with something else. They'll likely shrug 76 off as an experiment and do Star whatever and ES6 as Skyrims with new environments.

A promise to go back to that may even net them more sales/attention in the long run, despite the continual PR boondoggle that 76 has turned out to be.

They've weathered buggy releases (literally everything) and format/genre changes (ESO, Battlespire, Redguard) before.

My really optimistic hope is that they'll give serious thought to their approach on fallout 5 and put some of the RPG mechanics and dialogue back.

I rather enjoyed seeing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGLTgt0EEqc show what a real Fallout game should be, when compared to this dumpster fire has been since launch.

In a way, I sort of feel sorry for Bethesda. Not that sorry, but a little sorry.

I am too. I think even Beth knows that'd spark some even more serious backlash though. It's only been out for a little bit after all.

I'd be disappointed if that was true. They seemed determined not to let knowledge of certain backlash get in the way of anything. Why stop now?

Don't you think you're getting a bit ahead of yourself? The game isn't even out yet.

There was a fair amount of screaming when it almost immediately dropped for a big Black Friday discount.
Though it was lost in all the other screaming.

The catch is the 'Atom shop' isn't really a money maker, and despite all the complaints, lots of people did buy... so they probably want to milk sales as much as they can before the end.
I'd expect it to stay a paid product for the first content update or two.

I think you're right. The atom shop hasn't been a money maker like they were hoping, so I imagine it'll stay a paid product now for the next few major content updates.
