Well i was reading the rules and im fairly new to the gaming part and I was just confused about a few things and was looking for some clarification.
All help is really appreciated!!

So, say I have 10 boys, first if i upgrade them to having an assault weapon, I replace one of those 10 boys correct? so that at the end of the upgrade there are still 10 models in the unit?
Also, on my army list i would then write it as "9 boys 1 assault weapon"? or "10 boys (1 assault weapon)"

My next question is when you have 10 boys and you choose to upgrade to have a nob, you then add another model (the nob) for a total of 11 models?
And then for the army list entry it would be "boys, 1 nob"?

And i a grand conclusion of my gretchen-brained questions: if both upgrades are taken what would the army list entry be?

Thanks to youse lot!!

On the battlefield, in that dark corner you forgot to check.

Let's say the weapon purchase you're making is a big shoota, for the sake of example.

The codex entry (p. 100) states (emphasis mine) "For every 10 Orks in the mob, one Ork may exchange his slugga or shoota for[...]"; thus, it is a replacement of his current weapon.

I'd list that as "10 Boyz, (slugga/shoota), 1x big shoota, 65 pts." - note that the exact style of listing varies from person to person.

For the Nob, the entry states "One Boy may be upgraded to Nob", so the Nob replaces the Boy (and you have 10 models in total).

That would be "10 Boyz w/ Nob, 65 pts."

Let's say you're giving the Nob that big shoota from earlier - "10 Boyz, Nob w/ big shoota, 70 pts."

...or suppose you give him a power klaw, and give the shoota to someone else: "10 Boyz, 1x big shoota, Nob w/ PK - 95 pts."

Hope this helps

Awesome thanks! Im in the situation because i have 36 boys with normal weapons, 4 with assault weapons, and 4 nobs.

So, i guess in my case, if i wanted to split them 4 ways id have...
4 of these:

11 boys, 1 nob, 1 big shoota, 65 pts *or whatever the pts are

Just to help aid you - alll Boyz weapons are assault, whether they are slugga, shoota, big shoota or rokkit. THis is because Assault is a key term in 40k - it means you can fire it at full effect even when moving, and can assault an enemy after. So try to avoid calling the upgrade an "assault" weapon if you can - you may confuse people!

Actually, all ork weapons other than the SAG and the Deffgun are assault.

You'd usually write your lists as follows:

30 boyz
- Nob, powerklaw, bosspole
- 2x rokkit launcher
- 1x big shoota

Meaning a unit of a total of 30 models, with four of them not being regular boyz but one nob, two rokkit boyz and one big shoota boy.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.
