Seriously I love these minis but the Incubi's main weapon of choice looks badass but I'll be ed they look unwieldy at best. Like FF7 buster sword unwieldy. They don't look all that well balanced for fine slashes and the tip is blunt so it really can't be thrusted straight out. The hook at the tip might trip people up at best. Plus the klaive itself while obviously two handed it's sword handle two hand grip would put the person using it way overbalanced so if they missed....and plus you'd have to telegraph every swing youd make with it. Now the mid grip may make it easier to chop and slash but the range is hampered, unless the Incubi have a fighting style with it, like a Klingon backlith (sp?) and that horizontal blade thing...I dunno seems just as unwieldy to use in close quarters....anyway...how the heck does the Incubi actually make this thing deadly as it looks.

They probably compensate a lot with "just that good" skills.

The Polito form is dead, insect. Are you afraid? What is it you fear? The end of your trivial existence?
When the history of my glory is written, your species shall only be a footnote to my magnificence. |

I'd prefer it if it was more of the batleth styled bladed weapon.
Lots more spiky bladed bits for cuttin' with.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

They use it the same way Space marines with heavy bolters fight, swinging wildly in circles.

I too had found myself wondering just how much use a weapon of the klaive's unusual design would actually be - probably very little, was my conclusion. The fashion at Citadel, however, has long been one of style over substance, so it's probably safe to assume that the designer's intention was to make the weapon and wielder look distinctive and scary - as they do - rather than to bother with anything so quotidian as practicality.

Aren't most of DE weapons designed to cause a lot of pain before actually killing. They are as technologically advanced as Eldar, but specifically use poisoned weapons instead of ones that are more effective, atleast that's what my DE playing friend told me.. Dying to a bunch of small cuts is a pretty bad way to go.

I'd imagine it to be similar to a betleth style if held by both end grips, or more of a slashing, spinning style if not.
We can assume that since the Eldar toting it are S 3 those things are made of lightweight alloys or similar, making them far more wieldable than they look.
If it was used as a dervish style it wouldn't telegraph the blows, as the spin tneds to hide the angle of the blade, and it's a tough one to dodge combined with a spinning leap or an abrupt sprint.
I'll see if i can find a video of what i'm trying (poorly) to convey, as i've been on the wrong end of something similar myself at a freestyle martial arts meet.
