I don't know if this has been done before, but it feels about right. Take a recent battle, whether you win or lost, and make it into an epic story.

It was a bright, scalding day on the equator city of Remman, on a backwater hive planet whose name none of the guardsmen cared to remember, and none of the PDF cared to teach to the foreigners. Commander Morbo Valgutz stood on the third level of a former apartment building, surveying the land with a pair of binoculars. There was no sign of movement yet from the horizon where the invading space marines waited to attack. Then, on the horizon appeared several squads of marines, advancing slowly and without fear. The vox operator caught the commander's attention, with a wave. "Sir, I'm receiving a transmission from the marines, they say that the destruction of the hive is imminent and that--" Vorgutz cut him off sharply. "Yes, I understand. Tell them to die in a hole," The message was relayed, communications ceased, and the battle began. The space marines charged forward, taking cover quickly, out of range of lasgun shots. Volgutz raised his binoculars again, picking targets from a squad of marines, and noting where they had hidden themselves. He called down to the heavy weapons squad on the ground floor, "On the left, fire!" The autocannon open fire with a steady thump of bullets being sprayed from the barrel. Volgutz relayed enemies positions to the squads, the autocannon quickly make short work of a space marine. The second crew rammed a missile down the barrel of the launcher, and took steady aim. The frag sprayed over several marines, sometimes bouncing off their armour, sometimes piercing straight through. By the time the volley had ended, three space marines lay dead behind a low wall.

This is just the first turn of a five turn six turn battle. I'll have the rest up tomorrow when I have more time.

Guardsmen, Fire!
...Feth yeah!
