I live close to Sac and I was looking for a list of places that hold events on the greater East bay area. Since the drive is long its rather difficult for me to find places that hold good events. If anyone can assist me by posting Tournaments' Day/Location/Local Store website that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Check out Great Escape Games. Although it will be a 30 minute drive, every month there is either a 40K tournament with 60+ players or team tournament that runs between 10-15 teams, in addition to having a large (7000+ square feet) game room that's open late and free to use. Friday nights is generally when the largest crowds gather for 40K, but you can usually get a game any night of the week by coming in and asking the staff or posting on the forums ahead of time. Shoot me a pm anytime, Id be glad to help.

If you want to head into the city, check out Endgame in Oakland or Game Kastle in San Jose.

Dogstar makes good suggestion I would also add Battle Bunker games in Antioch.

I'm going to avoid Great escape like the plague. They have Sportsmanship and Comp factored into their scoring which is a turnoff for me, God forbid anyone brings a competitive list to a Tournament and tries to win. And i understand there is a major difference between trying to win and being an donkey-cave/jerk, but i don't like having my scores tanked for bringing a good list and crushing someone with a bad list.

I've been to all of those places posted. It all depends on just "what" you are looking for. The Alamo store would be a good fit for you, especially on Friday nights when they are open til midnight. They have plenty of tables to game on and the Employees there are pretty decent for being GW employees.

Black Diamond Games is a good place as well. They have treated me well when I am in that area from time to time.

Also, how does one apply to be a member of the Ultramodrines? Are harsh trials involved, ones that would test my faith as a wargamer and resolve as a geek?
