I am new to the game and i got a nice gift quite a substantial 40K ork army, i have built most of it (leaving some Boyz for conversions, Snowboarder, Pirate ETC) but i wanted to see if i could do a half decent job of building a Stompa from scratch.

I made a start with the head, and have got the basic substance of the body, planing the legs now before i move onto putting paneling on the body so i can work around those and make them look like they belong as opposed to being shoehorned in.

some feed back would be good on how i am getting along, and any suggestions to bits as a get on with it. (don't be to harsh)

Yes i used Tazos for plating

It looks great so far; nice work on the lower jaw and riveting.

I noticed the Supa-gatler on the head, are you building 'Da Evil Eye in Da Sky' Stompa?

Is the large left eye going to be a 'Gaze of Gork/Mork'?

The left eye may be that, i have more detailing to possibly add to change that.

Yes i think i will make it 'Da Evil Eye in Da Sky' Stompa.
I will make a lot up as i go along, even if it ends up not playable i want to give it more and more. i got some fun ideas for some of the bits on it.

Next i will be builfing up the shape pf the body with sprews to make up a scaffold for the body. Pictures to follow

Just a little update, i have built a cage to sit the stompa armor plating to. sits quite nicely, i will be gluing a lot of structural support to strengthen the whole thing.

Picture contains my converted dreadnaught as a size comparison

WOW!!! That is a big Stompa. Looking at it's size compared to your Dread, I'm guessing it's at least 13-14 inches. IMHO that's more than big enough to be a Gargant, especially once you add the legs/feet.

I agree, i will more than likely make it a Gargant, due to its size. It shouldnt get to much taller, i dont want the legs to add to much as it is quite large. (didnt really realize how big it had got until i put the dreadnaught next to it.

the legs will be the next thing to work on as they will need to be mounted well.

Do you know of anywhere i can view the rules of a Gargant online.

I'm almost positive GW has never published rules for Gargants; if they ever did they're probably from an older edition.

There is the Fan-Codex: http://gargant-owners-club.tripod.com/id10.html

Or your could try creating you own by adapting Epic 40K rules.

I look forward to progress on your awesome Gargant
