Poll
What is your opinion on tournament play of Kommandos with Snikrot?
Yes, he is very competitive.
It depends on the player's experience, and how he's used.
Only if you don't plan on winning at the tournament.

How competitive would most people consider a 1000pt to 2000pt Ork list containing Kommandos? Hybrid foot-slogging 60+ boyz, perhaps backed with an additional trukk boyz/kans/dreads/battlewagon for later support, whatever the player choses for heavy support, and/or fast attack. Let's just assume this list would include the standard HQ's: a BM with KFF, and the standard AoBR Warboss (The AoBR WB could actually infiltrate with the Kommandos and Snikrot. Yes, they can still infiltrate with Snikrot's special rule, which is not universal. It applies to his "unit" from what i've read, and NOT only Kommandos, which is varified by reading the FAQ's).

This is a what-if scenario. I personally think that in the right lists, Kommanos could be amazing in tournament play. That can be said about any unit though, but I would like to see what the rest of the Ork community has to say about it.

Well if your going for a hybrid list (they dont work btw trust me Ive tried) If you take the kommandos you now have 3 elements of your army that hit at three diffrent times.

trucks/wagons hit 2nd turn

Foot boyz hit 3rd turn

Kommnados hits 2nd/3rd?

You really need all your boyz to engage on the same turn, the meta has changed and mobs of ork boyz are still effective but you really need to focus your targets even more now.

However depending on loadout kommandos may be usefull but untill they get some form of melta they will continue to not make the cut as far as I am concerend.

Damn I cant wait to the GW legal team codex comes out now there is a dex that will conquer all.

I'm with Jubear in terms of your army hitting at the same time, however I think snikrot is great (especially when combined with a warboss) in terms of scaring your opponent away from the board edges (closer to your boys). However there are ways to avoid it and you are taking a gamble on when the kommandos will arrive. That said I take normal kommandos with my orks and they generally do pretty (though I think they'd do better with Snikrot :-P ).

I find it to situational. Some players can block the edge. Some can stack it with cc. Outflanking is nice but I find it's just not worth it

Curb stomping in the Eye of Terror!

Snikrot with Biker boss or Ghazzy is BOSS!

It mind-feth your opponent 'cuz he doesn't know when that unit arrives.

Works REALLY well in a Kanwall or Greentide list.

Live Ork, Be Ork. or D'Ork!

as an ex tau player such an idea doe not scare me.
kroot stretches along the sides via infiltrate will cause you problems for deploying them.
everything you do will be to counter his measures and now your being pushed around for positioning against tau
your best bet is prey you get to deploy second however if he knows the army he will still expect it.

I'd take a squad with sknitrot just to mess with their deployment and stratagy

So there aren't too many armies that can block a flank with units like that (orks, tau and tyranids spring to mind), and said blocking units aren't massively strong/resisilant (gretchin, kroot, hormogaunts) so they'll take some fire and suddenly you find you have 15 orks bursting through your previously protected flank (plus kommandos can also infiltrate if the mood so takes them).

Also that is all that orks need: to have the wall of models placed at the sides to allow the boyz full access to the metal once they have walked across the board.

For me with snikrot or take none. There are more important elite choices, nob bikers, nobs, lootas and burnas (in a battlewagon).
