Hey guys, I'm new to Dakka Dakka. A friend of mine referred me here for help, so here goes.
I've been having a hard time choosing a color scheme for my Chaos Space Marines that are dedicated to Khorne, but I've narrowed it down to 2 possibles, so if you guys could tell me which one looks better, I'd really appreciate it!

The second looks best, the first feels a bit too slaaneshy (mainly the pinkish red tones).

Yeah, I prefer the second. The first just isn't as sinister and menacing.

I actually like the first. The second is too busy + another black csm scheme.

How about this one? It was my first ever idea for my Chaos Marines

I like the third one, but I'd ditch the orange shoulder pads and just paint em red. It almost looks like a reverse scheme of Scythes of the Emperor, perhaps you could work that into the fluff somehow?

You my friend, are a genius! My brother said to make the shoulders red too! So I could say they were a few that survived the slaughter of their fellow Scythes by swearing allegiance to Khorne? That would make them the archenemies of the surviving Scythes. Now that I like!

I looked at the Scythes, and made a few modifications to my scheme, should I leave the trimming on their legs and chest Boltgun Metal, or make it red too? I just don't want to overdo the red

Keep the triming silver. As you said, it'll be to much red otherwise. I like the idea of them surviving by swearing alligence to khorne. Maybe the last of the schytes got seperated during the final ours of the tyranid assualt. Maybe they got so kill crazy as the tyranids surrounded them that some greater daemon took notice, and offerd to spirit them away in exchange for their souls. Or maybe the daemon of khorne just imbued them with enough warp strenght for them to slaughter their way out

Hmm... Reminds me a bit too much of the Red Corsairs, though...

Ah man, you're right Saint, my marines look like inverted copies of the Corsairs. Ok well I like the Scythes scheme, and the lore is just too good to pass up (thank you Limbo). What about changing the red to a reddish bronze. Like this guy on the left, his greaves and thighs is the color I'm talking about. (Yes I know that is a hideous pant job, it was before I heard about thinning my paint with water first).

As for the lore, I think a demon of Khorne teleporting them to safety is more appropriate, since we all know that if a planet is overswarmed by Tyranids, it is very unlikely that even a blessed of Khonre could get out alive. But as you said, they would have to get kill crazy first, since a Marine won't just corrupt himself for the sake of living.

I like the last one you posted. Red and black. Having more than two colors (that is, base colors) is a bad idea, in my opinion. I like the painted model.

I liked the last one too, but like Saint said, it looks like a inverted scheme of the Corsairs. It took alot of work painting that model, everything is metallic paints coated with 4 or 5 layers of red wash. I stopped working on that scheme because i couldn't find a good color to trim the legs and shoulders with. The black was too plain and the Mithirl Silver looked overdone.
Here's another scheme I was working on, I liked it, but I can't remember why I stopped with it.

For khrone, I like the last one best. IMO, khrone space marines need to have a lot of red in the color scheme. Just my 2 cents.

The last one I made? Or the one I painted?

In the Dawn of War 2 game, there is a color called Abyssal Red, and I've been trying to recreate it, but I haven't been able to! Can any of you guys help me?
