What's your favorite kind? What kind have you tried recently? What's the hottest? You get the drill. My personal vote for tastiest goes to El Fenix. I prefer the medium as the hot isn't super hot enough to thrill me in that regard and really does lose some of the awesome flavor. I can easily go through half a bottle in one sitting if I don't pay attention. A little on the pricey side. The hottest pre-packaged additive I've had is El Yucateco Habanero Sauce. The green is actually a little spicier than the red for once. This stuff is barely above a dollar at Walmart and a couple drops will transform your dish completely. It manages to drown out the habanero flavor which is a gripe for me, but anyone else I know who has used it more than once or twice seems to think that's a good thing. Ms. Renfro's Ghost Pepper Salsa actually manages to capture the taste of Ghost Peppers which is really hard to do, but drowns out the heat significantly. A great muncher if you like high heat, but only a notch or so above most regular "hot" sauces. And last but not least is the one I've tried most recently, Trechas Habanero salsa. It has "imported from Mexico" on the front and comes in really cheap packaging so it's fairly believable. This one gives the truest habanero flavor of any I've ever tried. It runs about one third the heat of just straight-up biting into one of the little guys so after several chips my nose started to trickle, but I'd consider it a munchable one as well. Just to throw it out there, I don't like Tabasco. The Chipotle stuff is decent, but the others taste like vinegar to me (I have a few of ounces of chipotle powder on hand at all times anyway). Cholula is like a slightly better version, but I'm convinced is designed to be consumed while you're drunk off your arse at Waffle House eating an omelette at 3 in the morning; at that moment you'll be hard-pressed to find anything more pleasing. Continue!

I quite like Nando's sauces but the stuff in the restaurants is for wimps. Even the supposedly hot one in the black bottle is fairly mild.

I remember trying some super-strong sauce a while back.
All I could think was, "great, you've engineered a sauce to be as spicy as possible. Too bad you didn't engineer it for flavor."
I'll take a nice, zingy, flavorful sauce over "OMG THIS IS SO HOT YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS" any day.
I'll have to try that El Fenix. It sounds pretty good.

The Ghost Chile is horrifically overrated. It's got a very high variance of capsicum. Individual peppers from different areas vary by as much as 300,000 scoville. That's unacceptable.
When you get a habanero, you are getting a consistent scoville rating.
Really though, I prefer flavor. When I make chili, I just use a whole ton of a weaker sauce with more flavor. I'd rather use half a bottle of sriracha then 3 drops of pepper spray.

Strange, all of those salsas look very liquid.
Salsa over here is considerably more chunky.

You're British. Its not your fault*
(*actually good homemade salsa is often in fact pretty chunky - but I'll never admit that to a Brit)
I too much prefer flavor to heat.

Or it comes in a little clear cup from that lady who brings you tamales in her truck once a week That stuff is always decent at worst. My Mexican manager brought me some stuff he made that consisted of roasted tomatoes and garlic with liquified habanero stirred in. He gave it to me as revenge for making him try some of my pepper chicken

Dave's insanity sauce.
My dad once slipped some in to the dog's food bowl. Oliver was never quite the same again.
Of course, what goes around, comes around, and a few days later he forgot to wash his hands when he went to the toilet after handling a few home-grown Dorset Nagas.

I've never tried Dave's Insanity but the reviews online only place it around 250,000 Scovilles max, which is still less than biting into a good habanero. Can I get a comparison review from someone?

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I looooove chunky salsa, and I think Tostitos is pretty good...Pace is pretty good too. I like some spice, but it's all about flavor to me. I want to be able to actually TASTE the salsa, not melt my face off.

That's what threw me initially as well. Salsa (AFAIC) is the chunky stuff with tomatoes, onion, peppers, etc. Related to Picante. Hot Sauce is something different, normally of liquid (though often fairly thick) consistency.
I'm not too picky with salsa, often buying store brands. I can always spice them up with added cayenne or hot sauce.
I like spicy food a lot but am not really a hot sauce connoisseur; usually I fall back on Cholula or Frank's Red Hot.

I enjoy a decent-good burn every now and then, but I would rather it have taste then go by how hot it is. I also prefer chunky salsa, the chunkier the better. And homemade as well.

Guys.....why not just make your own salsa? It's seriously easy and then you can make it exactly how you like it. Easy peasy - fresh roma style or other firm fleshed tomatoes, onions, peppers (jalapeno, habanero, whatever you like.) a little olive oil, a little salt, cilantro and WHAMMY. Salsa.

Dave's Original Insanity Sauce is meant to be an additive, Temporary Insanity sauce can be used like Franks or Tabasco and just dumped on the food. I like them both.
What I cannot stand is people who think Chili is ground beef and salsa. To me that is a step above Manwich.

I never quite grasped the concept of putting hot stuff in your mouth. How does this insane trait even begin?
Half a mouthful of anything that comes even close at being hot, and i'm breathing fire. Well, not literally. My taste buds breaks down, and all i'm getting out of the food is a heavily burning throat and mouth, and whatever else is put in my mouth is a tasteless mass -.-
