Would it be possible to play 40k without even knowing the launguage of the oppponent?
Imagine you are dropped in the middle Uzzwhicastan. I would say with the popularity of the game there is atleast 1 wargamer in every country. As long as you both know the rules well I think you could play a full game with no speech at all.
What about you all? Think its possible

No. How would settle rules disputes and know he's not yanking your chain. You can't argue your point or show him the correct way.

But if he's a perfect flawless gamer as are you then It could be possible. It would be difficult ans you'd be limited to shouting Universal things like Waaagh!

The difficulty is when you need to declare things to your opponent.

With the amount of rules issues, that happen in a regular game, I would say no.

I think it's possible but it wouldn't exactly be easy. Also, are FAQ's and rulings consistent across multiple languages? I'd hate to have a rules dispute with someone who doesn't speak the same language as I do. Those get confusing enough as is.

I once looked at a French Tomb Kings codex, while I couldnot read it I could understand where in the book I was Rare, troop and such. Maybe ya could just point to the appropriate place in his rulebook

Yes considering the rules are different in the different languaged codexes

I know this isn't what you meant and that I'm cheating but...

You could use a translator, human or otherwise.
