Do you understand what you are getting yourself into Reecus? Especially in this niche` of the entertainment market and under the economic conditions that are generally happening at this moment? Are you willing to make those personal sacrifices in running a retail business (yes I know you are going to to internet sales but you have a store front hence my comment) to stay afloat against your competition in your area?

Good luck with it. If you aren't open yet, take some time and review your business model. I'm really not a fan of tossing away 44% of your profit right at the start, especially with the overhead of a Brick and Mortar store.

We are prepared and have given this some long, hard thought. I am leaving a very lucrative industry to do this, so it wasn't a hasty decision.

Thanks for the input. We have debated on discounting quite a bit, and believe that in our area, with our business model, it makes sense. Our overhead is incredibly low, we really bargained smart on getting set up.

Haha, yes, there is a great deal of secrecy.

Fixed the one. Copied one of the links twice. They are all set up on Delphi, so it'll look the same for all three sites. GIN used Delphi from years agaon and the rest just kept the same platform.

GIN and GPRO need invites, GSRF shouln't.

moving to Mexico last year to have my surf shop was a huge leap, especially for my GF who left a great job at Nike...
even though my painting has suffered, with all the energy going into the shop, i couldn't be happier...

you have it even better, since you will be knee deep in minis and paint...
i'm from L.A. so i won't be able to send people to your shop, i'll definitely tell them about the webstore...
we don't have any shops in the South Bay that do discounts, unless Brookhurst happens to have something on sale...
i'm sure all my homies will be happy to support another cali gamer's business...

It was scary to leave a good job in finance to live the dream, but it sounds like you know what it feels like. Yeah, I used to live in LA, Brookhurst is a cool spot.

If any of your friends want a good deal on minis, we're happy to help. Out paint service is really affordable too, so that is something they may like.

What part of Mexico are you in? I used to go down there all the time when I lived in SD, and I rode my Bicycle across the country back in '08. It's a great place with awesome people. I would love to get back to Baja.

I got real excited when I saw Bay Area, then I realized it was the wrong bay. Anyway, I'll like it on FB if it'll help you out. I haven't really done much in the way of ordering online, but Christmas is coming up so I might buy a few things for the gaming buddies. Tis a little bit, but every little bit helps right? It is a time though, to open up and get a great deal on rent. You mentioned you got the store pretty cheap. That makes it easier and pays off down the road. The mall I'm in worked with me to go from 2100 sf to 5500 sf, for a 10% bump in rent. No way that would happen in a good economy.

i'm in Sayulita, just north of Puerto Vallarta...
i like the Wild West lifestyle of Mexico, the friendliness (everyone greets each other on the street), and the "surf village" vibe of Sayulita...
i grew up going to Baja to surf, and lived all along the west coast, with a couple solid years in Mazatlan...
living cheap in the Third World makes living as a mini painter much easier than the cost of living in Redondo Beach...

Sayulita is a surf town, so having the only high-end, collector's, board shop is pretty cool...
everyone knows the little shop with the awesome boards...

Now for us Southern Hemisphere people: are we able to buy the discount models from you, get them painted by you and shipped to us?

Hope this is the case and is not affected by the GW embargo. Should'nt be an issue as the painted models are a different product then.

If this is possible you may attract a lot of business from the South of the globe.

Hell with what we pay for GW stuff down here it may work out more cost & time effective for us to order painted from you.

Wow, i'm really impressed and with you all the best.

Honestly most impressive parts are the painting service and the terrain in a box. Terrain simply for how much your getting for the value and the painting service for how comprehensive it is.

I'm curious though as to if you'd only do some of that. lets say that i'd want my army cleaned up (by that i mean barrels drilled out, mold lines removed, etc) and base coated, but not completely painted?

I mean i like to paint but those are the biggest pains when starting a new project. so getting the tough stuff out of the way, but still being able to enjoy the fun of painting an army sounds great.

Either way, good luck with your store. I may come and visit next time i'm in Oakland (driving to there is nothing after coming up from la), but more likely you'll be recieving an order if i do start up me orks ;D

I know the area you are in, that is awesome! Like you said, life down there is definitely more chaotic, but if that doesn't bother you, it is a great place. The people are super friendly.
