is there any chance one of the Dakka admins could look into supporting an IOS app like Forum Runner or something? Surfing dakka on my iPod in safari makes my brain hurt, and supporting some sort of app would be awesome.

Note: I've never installed a phpbb module for an app like Forum Runner so I have no idea if it's as easy as they claim.

There have been people asking for Dakka apps before, but they have all been turned down.

We use a custom forum software, which is about 70-80% original work now. There are no modules to integrate so it would be a lot of work to implement. I'm also not a fan of implementing something that would give broken experience (no gallery, wiki, store finder), people have to pay to use (tapatalk), cause annoying popups on mobile devices (tapatalk again), etc.

A dakka specific mobile app has been ruled out in the past due to not wanting to incur the overhead of maintenance. There are now some other options available which reduce that cost, so having a dakka specific app is not a complete no anymore, more a case of 'if there is ever time'.

From going back through the threads it appears tapatalk, which I use, is out of the question. I would like to give my opinion that I would get a lot of use out of some form of mobile access to dakka.
