When a point cap for lets say 2250 is 562.5 for lords do you round it up to 563? I'm in the unusual situation of needing 563.

Great Bray-Shaman, Fencer's Blades, Jagged Dagger, L4 Wizard, Talisman of Preservation 325
Beastlord, Armor of Destiny, Extra Hand Weapon, Crown of Command 238

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Well, 563 >25%. I don't remember any discussion of rounding in that section of the BRB.

This is half the reason why 2250 isn't being used much any more, its being replaced by 2400, 2000 or even 2200 because it avoids headaches with partial percentages. In this case I would say you are going to have to cut some points, 563 is slightly more than 25% and you can't round things because then you no longer have 25% limit on Lords (you have 25.5% or whatever it works out as).

Page 7, dividing to conquer, says that you should round UP when you get a decimal place. So you could possibly argue tht you are allowed to round up to 563 - howver as a TO I a) wouldnt have picked 2250 and b) would say 563 is above 25% so no go.

2250 is a 7th ed points value - 2200 or 2400 is more common now, the latter even more so.

I would agree with the '563 > 25%' argument... execpt the 'Dividing to Conquer' rule seems to give explicit permission to round up.

It would have been trivially easy to put a line somewere - either in 'Dividing to Conquer', "Choosing your army', or even in the FAQ - stating that you don't round up fractions when making army lists. Instead, the 'Dividing to Conquer rule makes the rather open-ended reference to 'some other value' in addition to the specific examples of die roll, characteristics, and fractions of a unit.

Safe bet is to double-check with the TO/league comissioner/common group of players beforehand. But it sure looks legal.

It gives permission to round up but the paragraph talks about dice rolls and unit sizes. I would think that you would still have to adhere to the army percentages despite this rule.

I agree that you should consult the tournament organizer. My friends and I stopped playing games at 2250 to avoid this needless complication.

Eh. In the final analysis, it's a single point. The odds of it making a huge difference is almost insignificant.

As a TO for my store, I would unfortunately say that it would be a round down situation, its only 1 point which really sucks but it gives other players something to complain about, it says in the rule books that its up to 25% Lord and round up to would be 25.02222 lord choice which is indeed more then 25%. It really sucks, personally I don't really care about half a point but to run a clean organized tournament I would have to draw the line at a cap of 562 points for lords. I personally would as the TO if its okay to be over by a half a point and if he lets you just keep your mouth closed and tell nobody so they have nothing to make a fuss about.

wouldn't it be better to admit that 2250 is a silly size for a game

I don't know of any army that can take 1/2 points in its Heros and Lords.
