Hey guys... it seems like a lot of people don't know about this stuff. So far I am very pleased with it. Check these pics on my blog: http://atticwars40k.blogspot.com/

If you live in the UK it is super cheap... otherwise shipping hurts but still a bargain imo.

An update here... more Amera Terrain! I wish I had added sand to the bases before I primed but oh well - good enough. Check it out: http://atticwars40k.blogspot.com/

How resilient does this stuff seem, now that you've handled it a bit? Are these something that needs to be backfilled with foam or is it reasonably crumple-proof, barring an unfortunate seating choice by the larger gamer?

You know what - it is surprisingly sturdy... I'd say more-so than typical (GW) terrain because of its simplicity. I do intend to add spray-foam underneath a few pieces but only for weight, rather than strength. They are lite, so it's easier to knock them around than other terrain when moving figures and such.

But they are mostly one-piece molds with nothing to break; yeah if you sit on them they might not do well, but I'd say they are otherwise pretty crumple-proof.

I have been looking at these. How bad is the shipping to the states?

Certain US dealers DO stock them.

It's an option.

I'm not a fan of vac-formed terrain in general.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

There's a US source for them.

As reasonably thick vacuformed styrene it's respectably durable, and fairly easy to assemble. But as vacuformed styrene, it's also not finely detailed.

It's a bit of a trade off, through Amera you can get a good collection of decent looking terrain at a better price then going all GW. Amera's terrain is all "good" and not "excellent."

My opinion is that Ameras stuff is perfect for a home table or to fill out a gaming clubs terrain collection. It's not suitable if you're looking to make a "showcase" table or diorama unless you are planning on doing some serious detailing.

Also, the "Corner ruined building" is huge. Don't get it unless you want a monster mountain terrain piece.

I love this stuff! :-) for what it's worth, I find it sturdy and easy to build and work with, you can get a whole table of terrain for cheap using it and after a bit of painting it looks pretty good! the only thing I would say is the lack of sharp detail is hard to work with and i found giving it a coat of texture spray and some added rubble was the solution.
The other good thing they do is a trench system and river system that you could if inspired build into a board? I think it'd look great and erase a few headaches for jobs like that!

to surmise, this is great stuff for the price, but needs a little attention to really shine, I like it a lot and am actually just dragging my own amera collection out of the cupboard to get inspired to finish painting it!
