Devastating Dark Reaper

Hey. Completely new to Infinity, been looking around a reading trying to decide what I may want to start with. I really like the look of the Yu Jing models especially the Japanese ones and I'm eyeballing the sectorial starter set. Played around with their army builder and came up with the list below. I realize it is 11 models and am looking for some suggestions as to where to split the groups. I also have a few other questions. How important is it to have the specialist models like the hacker, engineer and medic? What is the difference between an AP and a DA CCW and which is a better fit for the Haramaki? Is there any big detriment to playing the sectional army other than limiting unit choices? The list plans on keeping the cheap lieutenant out of the fight and linking the Keisotsu when possible for bonuses on the missile and AROs. From my reading it sound like I don't have to declare who it is to the opponent and I have the O Yoroi and the Domaru who could both be the lieutenant instead. Is there a benefit to having your lieutenant on the front lines or is it best to keep it out of harms way? I saw recommendations for Saito and an engineer for the smoke grenades and something about E/M respectively. Are those sound judgement calls for the list? I'm also considering taking a chain of command Kempeitai in case the lieutenant goes down but I think id would have to lose the hacker or the engineer to do so. Which is a better choice? Thanks in advance.

Split the Keisotsu into a single group (group 2) and make them a link team to maximise their orders (read up on the link team rules). Your lieutenant doesn't have to be in the same group as the rest of your forces.
That leaves you 6 in the other group - which would otherwise be a small pool, but it is only 6 models. Concentrate on moving key models and think ahead to what your opponent might be doing.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

I'd highly advise dropping one model and combining it's points into another model. a 5/6 split with cripple both sides and a 10/1 split will make the 1 guy rough.
As for you questions:
How important is it to have the specialist models like the hacker, engineer and medic?
- A hacker is never a bad idea because at 300pts it won't be uncommon to see guided weaponry. Engineer and Medic depend on the list really. Engineers though are very useful to have around for your TAG since it can heal them up and clean up the gunk if you get Adhesived. You will however want a Yaozao or two to attach to your engineer, so that your engineer can use those to work through rather then putting himself in danger.
What is the difference between an AP and a DA CCW and which is a better fit for the Haramaki?
- AP is armor piercing, good against Heavy armor like TAGs because it halves the targets armor. DA is Double Action, good against.. well... everything as it causes 2 arm rolls instead of one if you hit. DA is generally accepted as "better", however remember that CC in infinity is a last ditch resort.
Is there any big detriment to playing the sectional army other than limiting unit choices?
- Nope just limited model choice and sectorials have the benefit of link teams.
- Best to keep it out of harms way unless it is a Heavy TAG that can benefit from the order it can spend on it's self while actually being able to take hits.
I saw recommendations for Saito and an engineer for the smoke grenades and something about E/M respectively. Are those sound judgement calls for the list?
- TO Camo, MA L4, Infiltrate, EXP CC, and Smoke Grenades is a nasty nasty nasty combo. Start in hidden deployment in a key choke point and when th timing is right come out and CC them to death, which thanks to MA4 you will strike first. You can them toss smoke down and recamo.
I'm also considering taking a chain of command Kempeitai in case the lieutenant goes down but I think id would have to lose the hacker or the engineer to do so. Which is a better choice?
- CoC is nice, but not vital. The hacker and engineer will serve you better.
Just a reminder though, for your first few games start out with about 100-150 poitn games. Yo uahve a LOT of complicated mechanics in this list which will be rough for a new player.

Alright I think I will drop the 5th Keisotsu to drop to 10 models, grab 2 Yao Zao for the engineer, and bump one of the Karamatsu up to a combi rifle. Comes out to 298 and I can drop a Yaozao for another combi rifle on the other Karamatsu if i find the second one is redundant for 300 on the dot. I understand a lot of advanced rules come into play, but I am as much a theorycrafter as a player and I like to have a general idea of where the list is headed before I start purchasing. Thanks for the advice it was a great help.

I'd highly advise keeping 5 Keisotsu for the link team so you can get your +3 BS.
