Just as the title says, I am in need of a good imperial guard book new or old does not matter. I'm mainly looking for something based around Yarrick and Ghazghoul. If such a book exists please let me know, if it doesn't please steer me in the right direction.

Thank you,
Ryan

The Gaunt's Ghosts series (essential reads)
The Ciaphas Cain series (lot of Guard vs orks, again essential...if only for the humour)
The Last Chancers series (the last one, Annihilation Squad, is set during the Second War for Armageddon and the assassination of the traitorous Planetary Govoner)
Imperial Glory (Guards vs Orks)
Fifteen Hours (Guard vs Orks...this time with conscripts)
Tales from the Dark Millenium
Redemption Corps

If you can get a hold of a copy then the Inferno! magazine that Games Workshop used to produce had some really great short stories in them too.

Cadian Blood is my favorite IG book. Unfortunately there are no recently printed books about Yarrick and Ghazgkull, but the third Last Chancers novel, Annihilation Squad, which can be found in their omnibus, is about Armageddon. Helsreach is about the Black Templars on Armageddon, but still features the Steel Legion.

Gaunts ghosts is a great read. Cain is much less serious an affair though but still enjoyable. Only read the second (I think?) last chancers novel but enjoyed it

Currently debating whether to study for my exams or paint some Deathwing

My favorite was Storm of Iron. Also liked Soul Hunter/Blood Rever. I'm generally a fan of things from the non-Imperial perspective.

Storm of Iron is a good book from the perspective of both Chaos Space Marines and Imperial Guardsmen.

I'd recommend the Last Chancers series. I think it's a good series for both new readers and old. In a video review I've done, I mention how it really helps new readers to the 40k universe. If you're interested, my videos are at my website 'choppy reviews' and on blip tv with the same title. I know I need some work on quality, but I really want to help out new readers to the 40k universe.
