Would the Stormlord's "lord of the storm' work if he is held in reserve? Or would it be like the Hive Commander nerf... has to be on the board? I realize it says it auto starts the first turn, but if he's not on the board, how would he invoke it.

Hive Commander doesn't have to be on the board - the ability just doesn't stack with multiple Hive Tyrants.

I can't speak to the Necron ability, I just wanted to clarify that.

As long as he is in your army whether on the board or reserved. Book states that as long as you roll above the turn it is in play. Enjoy making people cry with destruction first turn with 6's.

As above. He doesnt even need to be alive.
