Hey everyone!

Recently i have become convinced that I want to run a unit of 5-7 Rot knights with Kayzk the Befouled leading them, it's a characterul and powerful unit that is hard hitting and tough.

Now, to model all those knights! Trouble is....I'm not really sure what they should all be riding...

I'm planning on using the actualy Kazyk model for him, because it's really really cool looking and I think it's well worth the cost.

Finding models for the actual unit....is a different story entirely!
I have a few ideas:
1. Mounting Chaos knights onto several Forge World Plague Toads.
Advantages: AWESOME! Extremely nurgley, and uses all GW miniatures so it's legal in every sense of the word.
The toads come on the correct base size, they aren't too tall so the unit is easier to hide behind terrain.
Disadvantages: Exorbidantly expensive. around 70 dollars for just three of them means I'd be spending around 220 dollars on just the toads.

2. Maxmini Plaguebeasts
Look similar to the genuine rot beast model that Kazyk has.
Advantages: $24 dollars a pop....is this really an advantage? Nah. That's actually more per model than the toads but they look sweet!!
Disadvantages: If I bought several of them...they'd all look the same without some work involved.

3. The nurgle lord from GW on daemonic steed
Advantages: Price is alright. Looks sweet, on the correct base, very unique.
Disadvantages: I could only use one, or else it'd be silly. It's made of metal.

4. Beasts of Nurgle?
Advantages: GW.
Disadvantges: It'd be hard to put a rider onto it I think, sorta ugly, metal, espensive, nobody likes them because beasts of nurgle suck.

I also plan on using a couple fo the Maxmini Zombie head swaps to add some rotten flavor to both this unit and my warrior blocks.

I want to know what you guys think about the mount options, if i should use the toads, the maxmini beasts, or a mix of all four just to have some more fun. I was thinking 3 toads, a beast of nurgle, the lord, Kazyk, a plaguebeast and one other creature Dakka will hopefully suggest to me would make a fun looking unit! But i'd really like to avoid using the Beast of Nurgle if at all possible. becasue it's nawt hawt.

Thanks for yer help!

After looking at all the options, I absolutely prefer the FW Plague Toads. They are disgusting, which is a good thing for Nurgle. If you can afford it, go with them.

And maybe my (lazy) math is wrong, but they don't much more expensive that the other options.

I think you may be right about them. They really aren't that much more expensive, and they are the only choice that i could find where seven of them in a unit wouldn't look silly!

I plan on using these heads for the unit of knights:

just to give them some unique flair!

The only foreseeble issue with the toads is that the posing of a knight might be somewhat difficult, considering there is no saddle of any kind on the toads. I was thinking they might end up similar to the tomb kings necropolis knights and be "surfing" atop their bloated steeds!
Does that sound too ridiculous?

Not at all, the Plague Rider figures from FW that you can buy separately to go with the toads are surfing them. The toads already have the horns, so they have something to hold onto

Yes quite...well I guess I'll just be doing a lot of cutting knight legs and reposing, which shouldn't be too hard!

I'll post pics as soon as I get started!
