Alright, this isn't the best conversion I've done, but I think it'll be serviceable. This is what I did with the leftover arms from the Al'Hawwa and the body of the leftover Janissary.
Now, I'm not a good sculptor. Like, at all. I'd wanted him to look at least a little different from the regular Janissary besides having different arms and frankly, I don't like the face sculpt of the current AP Rifle Janissary. So, I tried to sculpt a featureless visor over his helmet. I wanted it to kind of look like he's got some sort of HUD mounted onto his helmet. It's extremely rough looking though, even from a distance. I think that, again, it'll be serviceable though. An odd note, the male Al'Hawwa must have cybernetic hands. Both hands only have 4 fingers apiece. Hence the reason I painted them silver on this guy.
Oh, I actually finally got to play my very first game of Infinity tonight! I played the intro mission of Operation Ice Storm with my cousin. Simplistic and quick, but it was fun. Plus, I actually managed to win. Naturally, I played the Nomads. Only lost one guy who was covering the central buildings from atop some containers. He even managed to take out a Fusilier before getting capped himself. The Alguacile girl pulled off a lovely flanking move that won me the game, too. Now I've got to get the Mobile Brigada finished in time for the next match.
Highlord Tamburlaine has also been talking about playing Frostgrave, so I'm throwing together a warband for that using my Menoth figures. I just finished a pair of Idrian Skirmishers that I'll be using as crossbowmen.
So, I'm actually ready to throw down.

Well, I got my stuff from the second Afterlife Kickstarter a couple days ago. I want to hold off on working on them for a bit, but I couldn't resist working on some of the new units. I had to do one of the new Republic Pulse Mechs. So, I chose the fire support variant. These are actually event better quality than the minis from the first Kickstarter.
I've got a second Pulse Mech soaking in the Simple Green right now. I'll probably paint it up soon. Might also paint up the Republic and Unity Council female operatives. I also may not be doing the rest of my Republic troops in these colors. I haven't decided just yet.

Well, I finally got to painting my Mobile Brigada from Operation: Ice Storm. I kept him pretty plain this time around. He'll have some lights on him when he's done and I may add some striping as well. Not sure on that yet, but for now I'm happy with him. As usual, thanks to the poor lighting in my house when I take these pictures, the picture doesn't show the paintjob all that well, so the highlighting I did on him is kind of lost here. His armor has a better sense of depth than these pictures show. He should be completely finished by the time I get to play Mission 2 of Operation: Ice Storm.
Got a supply drop yesterday, too. Got my Stonehaven order and some new Infinity minis from Miniature Market.
I didn't know they were updating the little cards that came with the figures. I still wish they'd put the figures' stat lines on the cards. It'd be a helpful reference.

Got my Basius basing pad from their second KS last night. I'm going to have to put it to use soon. Probably try it out on some Afterlife figures. Speaking of, I'll start working on the pair of female bonus figures tonight.
Started working on my Stonehaven stuff, Haqqislam Sekbans, a Batroid, and the Imetron last night. Expect a fantasy update tonight though.

Well, I said I was going to put this update up Friday night. It's now technically very early Saturday morning. Painting Infinity stuff and Dead Island put me behind schedule. BUT, I am putting it up!
So, I mentioned I had bought the female Half-Orc Necromancer from Stonehaven. She was there with the Kitsune Assassin in the haul photo. Well, I'd really liked the design of the figure when I saw the concept art, so I really wanted to work on her straight away. I pretty much spent my Thursday night painting her. Nearly finished her, too. I put the final touches on Friday night and now she's ready for presentation!
The detail on her sculpt is great and I really like her costume design. Stonehaven got some pretty good designs out of the half-orc Kickstarter. I love the Chinese looking armor and weapon and the hat is a nice touch. She's pretty much spot on to her concept art, too. Except for one thing. Her face.
Don't get me wrong, the face has a good sculpt. The problem is that it doesn't really match the concept artwork. Everything is spot on, except her face. The artwork made her look much younger, while the actual sculpt makes her look like she's middle-aged. She also had a really cocky smirk in the art that's sadly missing from the final sculpt.
As you can see, she's got a couple of minions with her. These boney fellows are from RAFM. Nice sculpts, actually.
Sword guy
Pick guy
There's a third swordsman one that looks like a barbarian that came with them, but I haven't gotten to him yet. These figures are actually pretty bulky. I like their dinged up heavy armor. The fact that they are wearing so much armor is a big plus in my book.
Last but not least, I have my Cygnar Sword Knights. I've no intention of ever actually playing Cygnar. I just really like the designs of these guys. They look like enemies Alucard should be fighting in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
These two will be serving duty in Frostgrave as regular Knights and probably in A Song of Blades and Heroes. I'd wanted to do a full Menoth warband in Frostgrave, but until I can get a pair of Exemplar Errant figures, these guys will just have to do.
Here's everyone together.
That's almost a proper Frostgrave warband right there.

While I've been working on more Infinity, I've dabbled a bit more into my small pile of 15mm figures. I finished off the remaining figures from the Rangers Project Kickstarter, did the pair of Clear Horizon Spec Ops I've got, and did a couple more Rebel Minis zombies.
I really like the designs of the Rangers Project guys. The final two figures were a sniper and what appears to be a running shotgunner.
I wish i could get these figures in 28mm. Great designs for them. But, I'd rather not have to go through the drama that I went through to get this bunch.
and here's the full team
When Clearhorizon was doing the preorders for the Nemesis Light Strike Vehicles and the small dropship, they were offering a pair of spec-ops figures as a bonus. I got my pair painted up. They're actually a much better match to the scale of the Rangers Porject figures than the Rebel Minis zombies.
Technically, the girl is supposed to be wearing a hood, but I thought it would look better if I painted it as hair. At this small scale, you can't really tell the difference.
And here's my newest chunky Rebel Minis zombies.
It's interesting the varying sculpt quality on the Rebel Minis figures. You can tell that they've been sculpted by different people. The zombies are much chunkier than any of the human figures. Their proportions are very different compared to the special forces figures I got alongside them. The nice thing about the zombies though is that I can really just slap paint on them and drench them with a wash and they look perfectly good. no need to go into much detail with them.

Alright, got around to taking some pics of recent Combined Army work. As usual, I blame any shortcomings with my paintjobs and photography on my lighting and it being terrible.
So, Kornak Gazarot. I was never happy with his grey face. So, I went ahead and just gave him a red face like the other Morats.
Part of the problem was that so little of his face was visible to begin with, it wound up not looking like a proper Morat face at all. I kind of think I could have gotten away with painting it up like a mask.
My Sogarat.
I attempted to make his blade look a little more interesting. My linework is a bit sloppy, but I think it's good enough for the tabletop.
The alien robot baggage handler I got from Miniature Market's sale.
I like his overall design. It looks like it was very heavily influenced by the Quedluun Rau female Power Armors from Macross. I think this set might also be the cheapest Remote in terms of pricing in the entire line. I may have to get another one.
And here's the Batroid's pet palm tree, the Imetron.
I also started work on my Sekban box. Got the first guy done.
Here's the Chain Pistol Sekban.

Thanks guys. You guys aren't exactly bad painters, either, you know. I think I'm generally not as happy with my paint jobs as I'd like to be. I know I can do better, but I get impatient.
As for the 15mm stuff, I really had no plans for the sci-fi figures. The mech hunters I just liked the designs of and I figured there would never be 28mm versions. the Clearhorizon figures were bonuses. The zombies and soldiers I eventually plan to use for Red Ops 5, though they're just as useful for All Things Zombie. The thing is, I have 36 more zombies to paint before I can play either game.
Don't feel bad for Kornak, Red Harvest. I like the mask idea and I've decided to run with it. That way he can remain an albino uf I want him to be one and I don't have to be annoyed with his face not looking right.

Okay, here's the update to Kornak. I went ahead and modded his face so that he's got a mask now. Doesn't look as cool as a Raktorak's mask, but I like this way more than his face. Something about his face just didn't sit right and I couldn't be happy with it. This, to me, makes him just look much cooler.
And I finished up my shotgun Sekban.
Tonight I will probably start working on my Elf Assassin from Stonehaven and an Argus Hound that I picked up from the consignment case at the FLGS. I've got no assembled or primed Infinity waiting on my work table right now. But, I should have some more Infinity reinforcements arriving soon.

That is a tactical thong, sir! I think my plan for that Janissary is that I am going to have him be a Tinbot controller. I'm going to have to get myself some kind of small robot sidekick for him. Either a Bombshell Miniatures robot, or a Utopian Drone from Heavy Gear. Can't quite decide. I also need to get him a rifle to carry on his back. Whenever I decide on a robot, I'm going to probably get the male Hassassin Fiday along with it, since he comes with a spare rifle. Plus, having more Haqqislam assassins can't be a bad thing, right?
Speaking of Haqqislam, this little supply drop came in today.
Should be fun. I'll be doing them soon-ish along with more Morats and Sekbans.
Now, this though, this I'm proud of.
I got her painted in a little over an hour, start to finish. And she looks good. This is one of those occasions where I'm completely happy with how the figure turned out! Now, I really do hate painting eyes and hers wound up a little funky. When you look at her from head-on, they look fine. But from an angle, her left eye somehow winds up looking like a big ugly blob. Not sure how I managed that. I think to rectify it, rather than try repainting the whole eye (because if I do, I'll wind up screwing up her whole face somehow), I'm just going to paint it all black and say it's an eye patch. It already almost looks like one depending on what angle you look at her from, so it shouldn't be too difficult to complete the effect. Besides, I think a one eyed Kitsune Assassin girl would be kind of cool.

Alright, update time! Yesterday I busted out some of my recent purchases and started priming. In this batch, I've got my Grenzer, Reverend Healer, Tiger Soldier, and an old Suryat that I'm working on. The Tiger Soldier received the most attention today. He's nearly done, in fact. So close to being done, that I'm comfortable to show him off.
The new Tiger Soldier is so much cooler looking than the old ones, and I liked the old ones. I'm not sure how his backpack works, but I could never figure out how the old ones were supposed to work either. I decided to do something a little different for this one. I've had black and white as the main colors for all of my Yu Jing, with a splash color to denote sectorial. The Vanilla and Invincible Army all have green, ISS has orange, and JSA has red. I thought for this one, I'd retain those colors, but swap them around a bit and make the green the dominant color. I seem to recall there being artwork depicting parade and field uniform colors for Yu Jing, and that's kind of what I'm going for here. This would be his field uniform and the predominantly white ones would be the parade uniforms.
Oh, and the dude is kind of chunky. Here's how he compares to the previous two generations of Tiger Soldier minis.
I know Tamburlaine doesn't like the weediness of Infinity, but I think he might warm up to the newer sculpts a bit since they're so much chunkier.
Oh, and one other thing I worked on is a Bones shipping container.
I know, pretty boring to look at. But hey, I did it and it's done. Now I have one more piece of terrain that's actually painted.
Up tomorrow, my Argus Hound that'll be pulling duty as a Wardog for Frostgrave. Once I get my Miniature Market stuff in, I'm also going to have to take a picture of my Infinity box Pile 'O Shame.

For the container, I used the weathering guide on Laser Cut Card's site. Paint your base, drybrush on a very light sand color, stiple in some silver here and there, then hit it with a brown wash. Real easy with good results. I used the same method on my Bones dumpster, too.
I mostly got Infinity from the sale. The Gecko box, a Ragik hacker, and Shasvastii Seed Soldiers. Also got the Reaper XAI Robots 3-pack, a box of a couple of Dystopian Legions Prussians as an impulse buy, and all of the Armored Cartographer city maps.
Oh, and I would be interested in going to Brookhurst.

Whew, I was productive today! Two Infinity figures, fully painted and the Argus finished! I am very pleased. So much so, I might actually get everything dipped this weekend.
As I promised, here is the Argus that I'll be using as a Wardog in Frostgrave.
He was a consignment case purchase for all of $5. Whoever built him put the heads on the wrong sides. I suppose that does make him look a little more unique though. I went with a purple accent on the armor so he'd fit in with my Menoth guys.
I also updated my Kitsune. Gave her that eye patch.
I like this look much more.
Got my Grenzer Sniper done tonight, too.
I left off the yellow markings on him. Not sure if I should add them or not. I'm thinking I'm going to have Tunguska in grey, black, blue, and white like this, probably with a tiny bit of yellow. I'm not fully decided on Bakunin yet, but I'm thinking I'm going to have them in yellow and white, probably with some grey or black as well. Since Bakunin are all such special snowflakes, they're going to need a color that stands out and I don't have much yellow in my Infinity collection. The Reverend Healer will be the first to test out that scheme.
Lastly, I whipped up my old Suryat.
It's a little hard to tell, but his armor's using two different tans. His chest, shoulders, skirt plates, and shin guards are all using a lighter tan while the rest is a washed tan that's closer to brown. They don't blend together so much in person, trust me. My plan for this guy is not to use him as a Suryat. He's going to be a Morat pilot instead. So, when I eventually get my Raicho (next on my Morat list), this will be the figure I use to represent the ejected pilot. He'll also work as a HVT, I think. I actually really like this figure. He's got a lot of personality. Too bad he doesn't look anything like a heavy infantry.

Got to play some Rum and Bones tonight, grudgingly. I'm not a fan of pirates by any means, but the game was fairly fun. Kind of got my butt kicked by the Kraken though.
I got my Rangers Project Salamander Mech all built up. It's a pretty good size, coming up on about the same size as a 1/144 Gundam kit. I had a handful of errors in the casting, but I've dealt with most of them. There's some air bubbles in his jump pack that still need filling.
Here's how he compares to one of the 15mm figures from the same Kickstarter.
And compared to an Infinity figure.
I'll use it as a Super Heavy TAG. I am going to try and paint it up like my other Mercenary TAGs.

Got my Miniature Market orders in. Going to have to contact them though. One of the maps I ordered was messed up. Since I got my orders though, I figured I ought to show off my Pile 'O Shame. Now, keep in mind, the boxed stuff (aside from the Ancient King) all have multiple figures in them and this is only a small portion of it. This isn't including my Mantic piles, thing's I've only partially started, then left to rot, nor my upcoming Kingdom Death pile.
And, as far as things I'm working on go, I've finished painting my Reverend Healer from Operation: Ice Storm.
Just the CSO left and I'll be done with it. So, of course, that means today I got my shipping notice from The Warstore that my USARIADNA box just shipped. So, I'll have that to add to the pile, shortly.

I was fairly productive yesterday. Got four new figures completed, two were ones I'd just purchased over the weekend.
I've expanded my Frostgrave warband a bit more. Now I've got some guys I can used as Treasure Hunters or Thieves.
I kind of rushed them and I probably could have done their skin better, but I've run out of Agrax Earthshade and I'm too impatient to wait until I've picked up more. So, they're done now. These guys are from the Croe's Cutthroats unit from Warmachine. I think they will work nicely for any kind of brigand or light armored unit.
This lovely figure comes from Celtos and I had to have him as soon as I saw him.
Who could pass up a zombie Roman? He was in a clearance bin for all of .99 cents. I had to have him. I'm pretty sure zombies can be a random encounter in Frostgrave, so he'll probably be used there.
Speaking of that discount bin, here's another figure I fished out of it.
This is an AE WWII Buffalo Powered Armor Pilot. I'd been wanting to pick one up anyway. I'll be using him as an ejected TAG pilot for Infinity.

Well Grim, you lucked out. I popped open the Gecko box and discovered a big QC packing error. I'm missing about half of a figure and they doubled the bag with the little bits like the heels and the operator arms. So, I've got four sets of heels, four chain colts (probably the best thing about this mispack), two sets of the dual combi operator arms, two sets of the MK.12 operator arms, and four heads. I'm missing a torso front and a pair of legs. I'm not sure if the torso sculpts are unique, but I tried to fit the bits together to see if I could at least build one of the figures and one of the legs didn't match up with the torso I've got. So, I can't even build a single Gecko. I just fired off the missing pieces email to CB. You'll probably have all of your Geckos finished before I can even start building mine. I'm so bummed about the missing bits that I barely got any painting done tonight.
On the plus side though, I got my USARIADNA box today. Haven't checked to see if everything is present yet though. I'm thinking I probably should, now.

I had a response from them waiting in my inbox this morning. They're going to be sending me the replacements. With luck, they'll get here quickly.
I did eventually regain my painting mojo last night. I painted up a Heavy Gear Ferret I found in the Brookhurst clearance bin.
Colors were based on a scheme occasionally used by Federation Mobile Suits from Gundam. These scheme can occasionally be found on their mass production Suits, most notably the Ground Type GM from Gundam: 08th MS Team. It can also be found on the Nero from Gundam: Sentinel and on the REZEL in Gundam: Unicorn.

Here's something you don't see too often. I'd found this figure in the bottom of a box of other Warzone figures at the FLGS. I think I paid a whole dollar for him.
The figure is a Sons of Rasputin Soldat Vicar. No clue what that title means, but he seems to be an officer modeled somewhat on an Imperial Russian officer. Since the design is so similar to that of a Prussian, I decided to base his paintjob on a Prussian Guard's uniform instead. I've got a couple of Dystopian Legions Prussians waiting for paint as well, so I figured this guy would be a perfect test run for them.

I need some feedback from our dad, since he chose the colors I used. I think the jacket is too bright. Makes him look French rather than Prussian.

They're Commissars, eh? Too bad I don't have any fancier Imperial Guards for him to boss around. I suppose I'll have to remedy that someday via Mad Robot.
I did actually hear back from my dad. He thought it looked good. I still think the blues are too bright though. So, I discovered among my paint collection a bottle I'd totally forgotten about: Prussian Blue! Turns out, it's damn near perfect for Prussian uniforms. What a shock!
I took brush to figure and painted the Prussian Specialist from my little Dystopian Legions box.
I'm inclined to think he's the easier of the two to paint. I really like their designs. It's just a shame that the scale is so off.
This is hardly the best scale shot I've taken, but you can see that he's quite big.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll get the infantryman done, and then get back to Infinity.

I had totally forgotten about them. Really, I was going for an EFSF scheme on that one. Here's the other figure from the Prussian Specialist pack. I believe he's supposed to be reloading. Interestingly, his sculpt is actually unique. None of the figures in Dystopian Legions share sculpts or poses, apparently. This figure is effectively finished. I really just need to do some drybrushing on the base, seal him, and add some gloss coat to his helmet and boots. And, I have one more size comparison. All three of these figures are supposed to be 28mm tall. The Chandra on the left is a little bit taller due to being on a Microarts scenic base and the Prussian Landwehr on the right is getting a major height boost due to having an integral base. As you can see, the Dystopian Legions figures are just too big compared to everything else in this scale. Without the height boosts the other two are getting, this guy stands a full head taller at the least. They should've classed them as being 35mm. I don't think they'd have had the same issues if they'd done that. Oh, and I will be painting that Prussian Landwehr. He's actually my dad's, but he never wants to paint 28mm stuff, claiming that they're just too small. So, Hopefully if I paint that for him, it might give him a push to paint the rest of them.

Nah, it's unlikely that you'll be encountering these Germans on the battlefield. I did them purely for display and my own enjoyment. I don't really have any intention of buying more Dystopian Legions stuff. I may try making some Prussian styled Imperial Guardsmen at some point in the distant future though. For now, your 'shrooms will have to cower in fear of my Weird War Germans instead.

I've got some new Shasvastii joining my Combined Army forces. I grabbed a pack of Seed Soldiers during Miniature Market's summer sale. I just finished painting them up. If you're familiar with the studio scheme, you'll notice that I've deviated significantly from it for my guys. I was planning on having them with bare arms, neck, and heads, but when I got them in hand, I noticed that they've actually got armor sculpted onto their arms and they appear to have headgear sculpted on as well. For some reason, Angel Giraldez painted those bits up as skin. Last I checked, Shasvastii don't have carapaces, so it could only be armor they're wearing. If you look really closely, it also looks like they have headsets sculpted onto the right side of their heads. So, I decided to go with a full bodysuit look on them and kept the exposed skin limited to their mouths, fingers, and feet. The Shasvastii are really kind of creepy looking. I wouldn't mind getting more. But, unless some really good deal on them pops up, my next CA purchase will be the Raicho. As a side note, I had a playthrough of Telltale's Walking Dead playing while I was painting these guys. That finale was kind of messed up. The best ending wound up being the hardest to watch and was probably the worst for Clementine.
