Some of you may have seen the blood rodeo list I'm going to be running 20 bikes 25-30 ASM priests and libbys and a cc termie squad
My LGS is going to be playing 2200 games so I bought 2 extra land speeders just to help kill some vehicles or what have you
My question is in a list like that what kind of weapon would best benefit the land speeders? melta? HKM?

What do you want your speeders to do?

Hang back and support? Take Typhoons.
Suicide/deepstrike to take out vehicles or thin out big hordes? Take Multimelta/Multimelta or Multimelta/Heavy Flamer.

Your playing Blood Angels so you probably have Melta and Flamer covered in your assault and bike squads.

Long range support is what you could use. Take Typhoons with the bog standard heavy bolters to keep them cheap. Equally good against infantry and vehicles with either 2 Str8 krak missiles or 2 frag blasts and 3 HB shots a turn while moving 12"

I like the idea of melta/flamer but I need some vehicle killing and horde destruction for those pesky genesteals

Yes. It's essentially the same ML as the termies get.

Heavy 2, frag or krak, and if you do frag it's defensive b/c of s4, and 3 heavy bolter rounds.

So whatr do you guys feel like overall gives the best coverage I need between the two land speeders?
My friend is playing IG and I need something to kill executioner's but I don't need another deep strike I have a set of CC termie for that

Well, take either 2 Typhoons or 2 Speeders w/ multimelta, heavy flamer. These are the best load outs.

Sounds like 2 Typhoons will be the best for your situation.

They also won't get as much attention as the rest of your army because they will be hanging back at maximum range while everything else is up close to murderize everything. That will let them do their job pretty much unmolested(or he shoots at them and everyone else gets left alone)

Do the typhoons have a wide blast range as well? Forgivem e for all of these more than likely obvious questions guys >< totally new kid. I love the idea of the just sitting in the back and pound out primary targets and being able to move WELL out of range of any of any kind of danger shoulder there be any.

I prefer the HF/Melta speeder. The option of either anti tank or anti infantry is a big boon to a take all comes list. HF are great in this meta considering necrons and DE. the Typhoon is better if you just want to hang in the corner and take pot shots at enemy vehicle. It is a safer choice than the melta/HF speeder but it costs more and it is IMHO less effective at either anti infantry or anti tank than the cheaper HF/Melta speeder. Just my two cents.

In your squads, doing the chainsword tango

I think in your case you'd be best with a Typhoon.

Do you guys think I should try one of each and see which works out better? And how would splitting them do? Like HF/melta and a typhoon? Or is it get two or go home?

it is more effective depending on the target. against infantry its more effective because it will have multiple shooting phases to kill stuff. MM/HF gets one shot at stuff before it dies because on army is going to let a MM/HF have free choice over their entire army if they can help it. AV10 ensures it dies to a stiff breeze.

Naturally the MM/HF is more effective against AV13-14, but you probably already have plenty of Melta elsewhere. The Typhoon is more effective against anything below AV14 because it will get more the a single shooting phase.

The Typhoon survives longer, getting more shots, because its less of a "shoot me or I'll totally wreck your army in one round" type of unit. Its more of a "I'll kill 2-3 tanks or a bunch of infantry over the course of 7 turns" type of unit.

So I guess the overall consensus is go with the typhoon because I have enough in your face units and it offers consistencey in shooting rather than being closer in the fighting and I can "snipe" a few more targets with it?

The typhoon is imo the best speeder variant. 2 krak missiles after moving 12" is devastatingly good.. you can make it into position for side armor shots often, and they are the bane of transports.

They also really shine at anti horde. They can fire 2 frag missiles per turn after moving 12", and can also fire its heavy bolter.

I generally always take 2 typhoons in ky codex marine lists, and if I wasn't always using 3 baals in my ba lists, id take em there too.

So it gets to fire heavy bolters. move. and shoot frag missles in the same turn?? Why was I going to throw these things out >.>
sounds like they're exactly what I need to use to bring the whole army together

Yup. They spew out wholesale death and destruction. They are just very, very fragile. I run em in squads of 2, and moving 12" and laying down 4 frags and 6 heavy bolter shots is sweet.

I'm only going to have room for 2 I'm afraid BUT I have enough units that they're going to be the least of the opposition's worry lol I have 20 bikes and 30 ASM coming at em =) so this long range support that isn't OVERLY expensive is awesome
