Recently ive been trying to figure out which army to start out as my first real army. Ive bought models here and there and had afew matches but nothing serious.
Ive managed to widdle it down to two army choices, either Space marines or orks.

I like the heroic space marines and their steel will and all that, also the terminators are very nice models.
I also like the orks industrial looks and style, as well as the laid back fun approch to painting.

I guess it then comes down to if you want a horde or an elite force.

It's a no-brainer. Orks of course! Everyone plays space marines and they're harder to make look good on the board than orks, who are much easier to paint.

Well ive collected orks before but I only had one match with them and it was a small battle. They seemed pretty fun to play and easy enough to paint, except I hated just how many I had to paint lol so their the safe option i suppose.

Then again ive never been interested in collecting marines until a while ago, its the only army ive never actually bought and I didn't really get into any of the other arimes, plus some of the units do look really nice. My view was always alittle tainted by just thinking you could only really get marines but with dreds, tech marines and afew other nice looking models its enough to consider.

My vote's for orks

If you want to take everything a bit too seriously while playing on 'easy' play Marines. You can get your tactical yaya's out while enjoying the best tanks, saves and basic troops in the game, as well as the insanity that is 2+/3++ armour

If you want to have fun while working through the tactical challenge of having almost all your troops wear beercans for armour (6+) and with the best looking models in the game (YMMV ) go ORKS.

Orks represent a more serious money investment though. A 2000 pt Marine force is going to cost you a deal less than a 2000 pt ork force, in general, and be quicker to paint due to the lower model count.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

Go space marines. Make it your color scheme and you get to use one of the 20 codexes that they have.

I have played both and about 4 other armies along side 'em. It really depends on what play style you like, what the groups in your area play, and what you enjoy painting. in 1500pts, you could field 180 boyz. Not saying it is the best thing to do but it is possible and the movement phase sucks.

Iron Warriors 2500pts 5-2-1
Orxicans 2500pts 13-1-0

Lol i already tried chaos once before, won't be doing that again. Ive bought troops for all the armies at one time or another, i thought i would like tau because they looked cool but to be honest they were pretty bland.

Tyranids looked nice but my god did i hate painting so many small troops that would be dispatched a mear 1-2 turns in.
My problem is I like the orks look and their easy to paint but im not much of a fan of the way they play, too many risks with some rules.

Now ive never really thought much about collecting marines but then again, having a smaller force will be good becuase i get bored easy if i have a hundred or more troops to paint but they also dont look as impressive and are the general go to army but im also sick of having weak troops lol.
