GW has always favored melee weapons over guns for their charaters. Other than the plasma pistol and psycannon there aren't any useful guns for would be Rambos and Commandos. So... (point values are for marines/IG, Inq, puny humans) Brace of pistols (SM 15/ PH 10) matched set of bolt pistols, may be fired twice (or 4 times in rapid fire) Armor Piercing Bolts (SM20/PH15) make any bolt weapon AP3 Conversion Beamer (SM40/PH35) techmarine/tech priest only Heavy weapon, gets hot, small blast. AP1. 1-6" S10, 6+-12" S9, 12+"-18" S8 and so on to S1. Gatling Bolter (SM20/PH15) Bolter, d6 shots. Heavy weapon range 36" or assault weapon range 18". Cannot be upgraded with AP bolts.

I suppose if I'm adding the Conversion Beamer I also need...
Gravaton Gun (SM30/PH25) techmarine/tech priest only Heavy, gets hot, 24" range big blast Infanty now moves as if in difficult terrain (subsequent hits have no effect) Vehicles take a glancing hit

More in line with 2nd edition graviton gun, maybe it should cause pinning - with difficult terrain as a secondary effect? Vehicles immobilized for a turn?

I've got to say, I'm not a big fan of Armour Piercing Bolts. I mean, that just seems drastic, don't you think? I think the basic idea is good, but it's effect is too drastic.

See, like Psycannon Bolts minus the invulnerable ignoring.
As for the Graviton Gun, I like the vehicles immobilized for a turn. But be sure to mention that they still count for full victory points, unless otherwise immobilized.

I'm not sure an extra pip of AP would sell the upgrade, maybe it should be SM 25 points/PH 20? maybe limit it to bolters or bolt pistols?

Well during my last campaign,we did have a guy modelled to look like Rambo. With two(yes...2) lasguns. Re-roll missed ones.basically a twinlinked lasgun but the handguns would be cool How to treat Orks,Tyrannids and especially Necrons?

well Orks can upgrade their weapons with more dakka and shootier and stuff. Tyranid Weapons get stronger on the right creature and Necs... I don't know.
