If you post a really large picture Dakka will first render it at it's original size and then resize it to sensible size. I find this a bit annoying because the rendering takes a long time.
Current code is like this
["img"]averysexygirl.jpg["/img"]
what if it were
["img"][size=800x600]averysexygirl.jpg["/img"]
You could still view the image in gallery at it's normal size but you wouldn't have to wait for it render when browsing the forum. If not not completely wrong WAAAGH forum does this (but the thumbnails are really small).

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.
If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in. |

On the gallery page, there is an option for posting at a smaller thumbnail size. its a dropdown box under the 'Share this image' section'

It only posts large images if people are linking to large images. The flexible resizing allows people with large resolutions to get the most benefit from the image, without screwing up people on small resolutions.
The side effect of this is that the page has to fully load then resize the images, which does slow rendering time, but I think that the benefits are worth the cost as once it is rendered, people can enjoy the thread more in higher resolution.
