Hello Dakkaites

I went to a Con recently and I saw some Malifaux mini's. They were well painted and looked great.

Am I right in thinking this is a skirmish game?

I play mainly 40k, however used to play Necromunda, Mordimhein and Gorka Morka.

I love these type of games as the individuals have greater depth.

Be grateful for any insight the community can provide before I outlay a lot of cash.

Thanks

Yes, Malifaux it is a skirmish game played using cards instead of dice and that uses a alternating model activation mechanics.

But you can find almost all you want to know about it in this thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/414798.page

Or in its own forum sub section: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/forums/show/59.page

I don't have much experience with Malifaux, but I know it to be very different in playing style from 40k. It's like going from WHFB to Infinity. I must agree that the miniatures are very well sculpted, and would definitely be worth buying.

I guarantee you that I'm not really as smart as the test says:

By far the most enjoyable wargame I have played in quarter of a century of wargaming. It is a shame that I explored it after negative experiences with the more recent directions of Games Workshop, but it was well worth the jump.

Even playing what is considered the weakest possible master, I would have taken first place at two tournaments were it not for the time limits put on us due to having only the day to play. This is because of the victory conditions being asymmetrical with lots of customisation options.

Do give it a try, it is wonderful
