Deep in the Woods

So I just finished reading the Iron Warriors Omnibus today and there was an exerpt from "Fateweaver" (not sure of the full name dont have it right here). In this excerpt there are a few new names and discriptons of thing we know about.

**Disclaimer** This is just what I have infered from reading a short story that dosent come out until may, so take with some salt.
This short story has an Iron Warriors theme.
One character is refferd to as a "Forge Apostle". Now since we know Iron Warrior armys are lead by a Warsmith, something called a "Forge Apostle" ***CORRECTION*** The actual title of the character was "Forge Chaplin" sorry for the mistake. sounds to me as a Leutinent level kind of character mabye say an Elite Techmarine?

***CORRECTION*** A charachter called a "SteelWatcher" (He is said to be a basic/still Post-Human IW) is leading a group of Obliterators into battle. There are 5 of them. One of them then morphs out twin Assault cannons.

Here is where I am going with this. Since we know the BL authors have meetings about what they are writing, why would they allow Obliterators to be refrenced in groups of 5 and use weapons that use ammo. Both of those rules/backstory for Obi's hasnt been in use since Codex v3 when they were 3-6 and used ammo weapons.

So this makes me think we may be getting some cool new chaos rules/options.

It was just an exerpt from the short story prineted as a teaser in the back of the Iron Warriors Omnibus. I havent searched the BL site to see if its posted there...

This is the book the story is in. However the expert on the BL site is not the same as the one from the back of the Iron Warriors Omnibus.

Which have all been declared not canon, by both Black Library, and games workshop.

The only novel that ever hinted at new stuff coming in the future was the Fall of Damnos and some of its Necron stuff. I'm reading through the Ultramarines omnibus and half the Nids in these books have never even been mentioned outside the book.

Not to highjack the thread but since did GS Goto stuff get nerfed as "non-canon". I only ask as I have never heard of that.

Back on Topic: Could be something to it. I hope so. I grow tired of destroying Chaos and hearing of its substandard codex.

Unless it was specifically made to preview upcoming CSM dex(which we'll never know), I wouldn't be surprised if it was done independently of codex writers. Basically, anything goes.

That being said though, I would love 5 obliterators with TL-assault cannons and CAN see this as a GW move. GW's main goal is to get people to buy things they don't already have and most people don't have over 9 obliterators. Being able to take them in 5's would be awesome. So awesome that balance can go screw itself. 5 relentless TL-assault cannon for 75ish points a piece ftw!
I'd be all, DERPSTRIKE 15 IN ENEMY FACE, DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA, gg.

The tale in question is indeed in "The architect of fate" collection

http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/architect-of-fate.html

The short story in question is also available as a separate e-book

http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/endeavour-of-will-ebook.html

The tale concerns a force of Iron Warriors trying to capture an Imperial Starfort, the defenders being led by Lysander.

Whilst I don't think we can or should read too much into things like the titles of the "HQs" of the chaos force the fact that obliterators were once again using solid/projectile weaponry is more rumour worthy. Perhaps anyway.

aside from the aforementioned Damnos book, you'll note that Mr. Swallow's SoB follow up book was chocked full of details about the revised Necrons too. IIRC this came out just after their release but the author confirmed he'd had a copy of the new book to reference.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all

Like I said, I dont know if these are in line with the new comming fluff/rules. This is just my interpritation of the blurb from a short story.

This coming from a person with an avatar of a grey knight. Sad if you ask me.

It would be great if this blurb was something that we could count on. Right now it sounds more like a book being released around the same time. Could be a marketing thing. Chaos dex is coming out and now a book that feature codex. But hopefully it isn't a marketing thing and there is actually solid info in it.

Congrats on the Astro win!

i don't think many of us would ever argue that CSM's outright suck, just that the codex is beyond stale that it's easily the most boring army to play competitively. Especially at tournies that only feature a genralship score and only encourage winning, CSM's are about as fun as VC's were prior to their new book in Jan.

Chaos Marines need a new codex because even Daemons & Tau have more variety in their lists, and the spiky marines are stuck with some pretty fugly models, (*cough*dreadnought*cough*), that really need some love! (and they seriously need to get rid of all those god-awful hybrid kits!)

I got that with Ice Guard as well. Really it fits as the Hive Mind will adapt/constantly change Tyranids depending on the mission/Hive Fleet, and the Nids listed in codex's/army lists are just the most frequently encountered

I have to admit i read that excerpt aswell after reading the iron warrior anthology (a very good read wanting to add more to my csm army now) I saw the oblits and the forge chaplain and i can see 2 things here

1. The author is taking his own ideas and adding to his story so no new stuff or

2. These are gonna appear in the next codex and if they aare i have a few concerns about the forge chaplain in that what can he do besides being like a normal chaplain
