So, I recently went to my local gaming store and was finally able to play my Necron army. The grand total was one draw (DE) and one loss (Orks).
My list:
HQ
Phaeron w/Res Orb
Lord w/ Res Orb and MSS
VoD Cryptek
Elite
5x Deathmarks
Troops
15x Warriors
12x Warriors
10x Tesla Immortals
Heavy Support
Annihilation Barge
Now, DE, I may have something of a general strategy to combat, but seeing how every single unit was wiped out by hordes of Orks... positively crushing. Anything I can do to thin out their ranks for a better chance of survival?

A crap-load of boyz. His list was something like Two squads of 30 boyz led by power-klaw nobs, with three nob bikerz, a Warboss, and 10 lootas.

Since you have no support for your warrior units, I would reorganize everything.
For example, you have almost no crypteks. Tremor crypteks are great models to put in your phalanx, if you are going warrior phalanx. Tremor slows your enemy down, you have a 36 inch range with them, and crucible reduces their charge range by d3.
Since you have only 1 HQ, you can upgrade your lord with orb into a second phaeron. This makes both your warrior blocks relentless, a mandatory inclusion if you are going to take big warrior units.
The deathmarks are nice, dont get me wrong, as you have a veil of darkness cryptek, but since your core is almost 30 warriors, I would support your core before adding accessory units. This means dropping the deathmarks and veil for points to take both those tremor-crypteks with crucible and a second phaeron.
Finally, while the anni barge is a great value, in a lower point game you may wish to take a ghost ark. Its still av13, but it repairs your warrior blocks while still having decent shooting to at least try and glance a vehicle.
Now, in the end, all this advice is geared towards making a warrior phalanx work for you. I go this route because I dont know what models you have, but if you are using 27 warriors I assume you have a bunch of them. If you have lots of models available, then other options (such as 30 scarabs with 3 5 man warrior units) may get suggested. Orks dont like scarabs.

Crypteks will be your friend against orks
tremor ones will slow them down which might get you another turn of shooting.
A tactic ive thought of is using the abbyssal staff. its a flame template which is brilliant against horde armies and the orks relatively low leadership means that youll plink them off quite quickly. add this to the rapid firing warriors they will be leading and you should have a nice thinned out squad of boys. much more manageable than the massive horde it originally was.
A monoliths large blast will kill nobs quickly as well as blast chunks out of the boys squads.
wraiths with whip coils would be brilliant against the bikers. rending attacks and initiative 1 should hopefully knock some off and the wraiths good invulnerable should keep them in the fight.
An overlord with warscythe and phase shifter should be able to take on his warboss easily. if you can couple him with the wraiths whip coils you might be able to kill him off before he gets a swing in.

Doomsday Arcs and Tremor Cryps. These will murder Orc Hord lists.

Ghost Arks. It adds firepower, and brings back warriors. When the orks hit your lines, at they assault the vehicle and then get to stand there while you rapid fire them off the map. Orks have a hard time with AV 13.

i would have though an Anni Barge would have been pretty good, potentially Heavy 12 S7 shots.
just out of curiosity, what were your tactics vs DE? I have my first ever game against them on monday and am a little scared.

Thanks for all the replies, guys! I have always wanted to try the tremorteks in games, they seem like a boatload of fun!

I only played one game against them so far, but I have learned two things about DE:
1) they're mostly 5+ armor, so massed gauss fire will shred them. Just make sure they're within arm's length and not any closer.
2) Kill the Wyches first. They're godly in close-combat. Kill them or make sure they stay away from you.

The codex doesn't say anything about not working in cc, where did you come upon this?

QFT
Codex just says the vehicle has AV13 until it suffers a Pen Hit, it doesn't specify what the hit is a result of (i.e.: shooting, CC, Psyker power etc etc)

You hit Rear armor in CC, unless it's a Walker. Therefore, QS has no effect on CC.

If he is playing venom or raider spam dark eldar, KILL HIS TRANSPORTS. If they are gone his poeple have to walk and unless its a coven they will die really fast to your shooting. If he is smart his wyches will have haywires so don't let them touch your barge since it will do some damage. Also your deathmarks might help against his characters since with the FAQ if you target a independent character his squad his also effected intill he leaves that squad.
Sorry if its not the threads topic.

Nemesor really shines when playing against orcs. Boys will have a hard time huring necrons with counter tactics removing FC. Scarab swarms suddenly become deadly to orcs when FC raises their stats to I3 S4

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.
