IF i have a Primaris psyker in a chimera does the chimera count as part of the unit that gets shrouded?

I want to say yes, but the chimera isn't part of the unit some things.

Chimeras > rhinos (course then again piling a regular squad out of a chimera usually creates a scene similar to Omaha beach during D-Day)

The Chimera and the Primaris Psyker can never be the same unit. The Psyker can't join the Chimera and being embarked is definitely not being the same unit otherwise the Chimera would have to embark in itself.

I would personally say yes, he can. Why? Say a Primaris Psyker (an IC)is deployed with a Company Command Squad who has taken a Chimera as a Dedicated Transport, he is now part of the Company Command Squad until he disembarks the transport and moves out of coherency with the unit.

Per the rulebook FAQ release January 2012:
Q: Can psychic powers be used on a unit embarked on
a transport? (p50)
A: For simplicity’s sake, the answer has to be a firm ‘No,
unless the psyker himself is in the unit being
transported’

OK, so he can cast the power on himself and the CCS while they're embarked. That still doesn't make the Chimera part of the unit, and so the Chimera still doesn't get any benefit from shroud.

That would effect the Psyker and the CCS, but the chimera is still not part of the same unit (even though they're embarked in it).

Edit: Beaten to the point by Chrysis Still, Nightshroud inside a Chimera would make it really dark inside, they'd never find the door!

He could cast it and it would be in effect if the chimera got popped and the CCS got shot at by something else.
So it's not totally useless. I mean as a power it is pretty useless but in this instance it isn't.

I plan to couple my Primaris with my Psyker Battle Squad so I would shroud the squad then reduce a nearby enemy LD to 2.. seems like a fun way to toy with opponents.

No, this is incorrect. You cannot 'join' a vehicle, no matter how you purchased it. The Chimera is not a part of the Primaris Psyker's unit. In fact, that FAQ answer has nothing at all to do with this issue.
