So i have been wanting to do a WIP thread on some of my painting for a while because im pretty mediocre and would like to keep motivated. So I started a non heretical space marines army because I love the idea of white power armor. And I wanted to make a thread. The working title for th chapter is the "white widowers". Here we go! Any CC is welcome.
The first company terminators group shot
Now the 2 almost finished guys.
When I get home from work I'll take more pics of all the WIP stuff including the rest of the termi's and a tac squad.

I like the concept that you are going for. New chapters are always interesting. I am noticing some minor things that might need some work on, yet it may be the picture quality that is throwing me off.
I am noticing some bleeding on the red on the optics of the lens of the marine, minor thing that just needs a small touch up. The gold needs some highlights. Just from the picture I cannot see them if there are any. The white itself could be smoother; I can tell it is just that you miss some areas when you dry brushed the models.
I would have bases the model before spraying your base coat. You will have problems with in not when you are trying to finish your models
I would also have suggested clean the model up a little more; some of the mold lines a very noticeable.
I really when to see the full army picture when this is concluded.

See I'm already glad I posted this! I had no idea it was best to base before primer haha. Thanks for the heads up eternal. And yes I definitely noticed the mould lines on the photos. even though I spent quite a bit of time de-lining them with a razor and files d'oh!
There is definite bleeding of the red eyes and optics, and on the TH handles/hands wash. I have shaky hands and thinned the paint a little too much I think.
And no there aren't any highlights on the gold yet. Neither is there the final white coats and touch ups.
And to give a slightly grander feel here is a bunch of half done regular marines

All said and done, I still like it. This will turn out to be a good army to play against. It will be pleasing to the eyes. Just remember this is your army, keep up the good work.

This is looking pretty sweet so far. I am a fan of the white it looks nice. I have the same problem with the eyes/optics etc. I actually use a tooth pick to clean it up with paint since I usually end up messing up with a brush.

Haha thanks and yah I just looked up toothpick painting on google and I'm DEF gonna try that for the next few. Now the more and more I look at the close up photo's I realize how sloppy some of my painting is haha.
I've only ever painted about a dozen mini's. they were all chaos with dark colors, that were all pretty crappy even to my low standards haha. These are the first few I'm trying new techniques and try to actually make them look good. I was pretty terrified to post these. My goal though is to have my 2 tac squads, the termi squad my 3 rhino/raz/preds, and dreadnought painted by the end of the month. and then I'll be attempting a centerpiece type librarian or Vulcan with an accompanying land raider.

Really they are not that bad I mean the things that are out of line are just small details and that is when a nice little touch up will fix. Going from black to white is a whole different beast and if that is the case you are doing really well. If you really wanted a nice little wash (unless you already have, can be hard to tell sometimes.) would bring out all the recesses but hey like I said they look pretty dang good so far.

Couldn't agree more eternal haha. When I get home from work I'll post up my first white armor guy I did. First it started as a black primer and I quickly realized how hard white was to do on black primer 12 coats later haha. Then I got white primer and things came together much better on these.
Re:uncoolvillain. Yah if you look at the pic in the second post of the bunch of marines there's a terminator in the back right hand corner that sort of shows the Badab wash I do after the prime and base coat. The order was white primer, base coat white with regal blue mix(7-1), then badab black wash, then the green, then the red/blue tubing wires(Badab washed after they dried), then the thunder hammers with(midnight blue, ice teal, white), then thin coats of white to clean things up.
Thanks soo much for the kind words guys. Its gery much appreciated. Now I can't wait to get home and paint haha!

I love white paint jobs. I think this looks way sharper than any coloured army I've seen, but I usually don't pay attention to SM anyway because I find them boring. So, take this as you will.
So far, I love it. I was considering doing white for the new Tau models I wanted to get, but I realize how hard it is to shade them just right. Kudos on doing so well.

So quick reply here things have slowed down a little. I've gotten the terminator squad almost complete. Just the thunder hammer effects to do on the remaining 3. I also have a full tactical squad nearing completion. Just final touch ups to go. Will be posting pics as soon as I get home from work. Next up I'll be painting my dreadnought, a rhino, and a predator that I just finished(hopefully) magnetizing.
I seem to be getting great response to the models in person at my flgs. Which is always nice.
One thing I'm realizing is how hard it is for me to paint sharp shade lines. Mostly because my hands are so shaky... I've tried bracing my palms on the table while I paint and it isnt helping like I'd hoped.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
So as promised here are some late night crappily lit photos of the tac squad and the termi squad.
And now the squads
That dread in the back and a rhino are up next once these are finished tomorrow or the Thursday. Let me know what you all think.
