Basically, can an imperial guard platoon/company command squad order special units such as veterans, stormtroopers, conscripts, hevay/special weapons etc..?

Yes, note however some of the Orders are useless depending on the receiving unit (i.e. FRFSRF to Stormtroopers).

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Correct, as it explicitly says Lasgun in the order entry and Hot-Shot Lasguns are a different weapon.

And the FAQ further clarifies this:
Q. Are hotshot lasguns considered lasguns for ‘First
Rank Fire, Second Rank Fire’? (p36)
A. No. Whilst lasguns are robust weapons ideally suited
for firing continuous volleys, hotshot lasguns cannot
sustain such a high rate of fire.

Oh I remember the glory days of Hotshot Lasguns and FRFSRF arguments before the FAQ. Almost as fun as the "Is the Deffrolla a weapon" discussions!
Good times.

EDIT - Oh and remember that Marbo can't receive orders at all, nor can you issue orders to squads embarked in vehicles.

No, you CANNOT order units that are embarked in vehicles. Strict , very clear prohibition with no room for misinterpretation

Keep in mind that orders are essentially psychic powers without the chance of perils.
Not being able to order vehicles/embarked units is pretty balanced when you think about it that way.

It would make mech guard even more powerful. So yeah, annoying, but makes sense from balance POV.

As an addendum: this same portion of the rules that disallows receiving Orders while Embarked also disallows issuing Orders while embarked; so a Company Command Squad in a Valkyrie cannot issue any orders to any units.
The Chimera has a special rule that specifically allows orders to be issued by embarked Commanders.
