Yes mark your calendars for columbus day weekend 2013 ! The Battle for Salvation has once again secured the room at the Palasades Mall to host the 4th Annual BFS 40k GT. I know thats a long way off but we want to let everyone know that th BFS will continue its tradition of hosting its GT on Columbus day weekends and in doing so we made sure to early reserve the facility we have used for the past 2 years.

The Palasades Mall is a great place to hold these types of events. Local Hotels, Tons of resterants and eateries in the mall. Loads of shopping for those significant others who want to tag along. Also the Mall is about 45min from NYC using mass transit or a personal vehical. Simply put its a great place to host a tournament. Its reletivly cheap for the NYC area Allowing us to provide more prize support, its big and roomy with lots of gaming space.

The Battle for Salvation GT has grown at a steady pace over the past few years. Starting with 48 and growing to 64 players(62 with 5 no shows) this year. We would like to keep the GT an intimate setting. As players who have been to our tournament know, we provide plenty of space to play and we will continue to provide a relaxed comfortable setting for the gamers. With this being said we can comfortably host a GT over 100 players given the room size. However its never really been our intention to host an GT of that size. So we have a few things we are considering for next years GT.
One would be to open the GT up to max 80 players. This would give players plenty of room to game and also keep the amount of games played in our win/loss format to no more than 7 games, this format is my favorate because we are most comfortable with it and it has been our goal to get to 80 players.
Two would be to provide some sort of secondary game on the weekend in conjunction with the GT. Leaving open the possibilities of doing narrative Apoc games or some other format that would not conflict with the GT gamers. Friday we host a skirmish Tournament that is played mostly by GT players who come in for earlier gaming.
Third could also be the possibility of hosting a small Fantasy or warmachine tourny as well. However our gaming group is primarily 40k so going to another game would mean outside help.

We have not only increased the substantial prize support, but also the size and scope of the event itself. With our venue at the Palisades Mall we are able to accommodate a much larger number of players, with a minimum of 64 to start. In addition to the Grand Tournament, we will be hosting a 3-4 game 40k Skirmish Tournament hosted by Fritz (of Fritz40k) on Friday (see the player packets for more details).

Our Grand Tournament will feature 6 games over 2 days. Players will be sorted into 8-man brackets at the end of Saturday based on performance. Players will then battle for supremacy in their respective brackets on Sunday, with all players guaranteed 3 games (no more single elimination). Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each bracket and the winner of the top bracket will be crowned Tournament Champion.

For anyone who is on the fence about this event, consider going. I've had two very fun years (did really well once and really badly the second time).

sorry about the site being down for the past few days guys. We were in the process of transfering ownership over to the club from a private owner. Better control and security now.

since the 6th edition release we have had an uptick in registrations. at present we are half full. Our goal is to reach 64 and we have the capacity to go at least to 80.

BFS will of course be 6th edition. As in the past BFS closely follows the NOVA format and missions. We are presently putting Mikes missions through some serious play time.
We also have some interesting ideas as well that we might consider.

Fritz from www.fritz40k.com and i have spoke and hes got some really fun things hes going to be posting on the skirmish tournament in the near future.

6th edition has been interesting to say the least but we look forward to hosting a real fun event.

You know, I took Best General and 2nd Overall in 2010. I took Best Overall and 2nd General in 2011. I suppose I'm going to have to go back ... but maybe I'll judge this time instead of playing ... nowhere to go but down!

Can't wait as usual for the awesome time Ed and co put on, and for more boozy shenanigans with the awesome NE crowd after hours.

Registrations have massively picked up this week, so if you're thinking about attending and getting a hotel room I would suggest doing so sooner rather than later.

Are you willing to reconsider the bit about objectives always being at ground level, now that GW has come out and explicitly stated otherwise in their FAQs?

As I recall NOVA also included some missions which included elements of Scouring and Big Guns Never Tire; any consideration of that?

For the Fortifications rules, the packet specifies they can't be placed on top of the terrain, but it doesn't mention a 3" buffer from other terrain; which is what Fortifications normally have in the rulebook.

Typo on page 4 under "power weapons"- it says you must "both model the weapon to the appropriate type", and then lists the types, but doesn't finish the sentence and specify what the second requirement is. If I were finishing it, I'd say you have to specify the type of weapon on the army list as well.

Any idea how you'll be handling the rumored new chaos space marine codex? (which may or may not drop just before the tournament) I built a CSM army for NOVA and then missed it due to travel complications and I'd love to give it a whirl, especially now that my princes are FMCs haha.

Objectives: i will look into that and if its addressed in the faq we should adjust accordingly

Quick $.02 on objective placement - the FAQ allowed their placement at higher levels, but doesn't mandate it at all.

The purpose of having cylindrical objectives was - for NOVA format at least - always ensuring fairness across tables, and more freedom with terrain design and placement by organizers.

Just a $.02 on that particular subject.

Well, I just registered, if the new codex drops soon and ruins my army build I might break out my DE again, or just go with it.

I understand that table-height objectives allow a little less variation between tables. They're also a big help to bikes and cavalry, and make jump infantry and flyers worse.
