I plan on getting some melta and plasma for my Elysian Veterans, however the special weapon sprues aren't worth it for me since all I want are meltas and plasma.

Has anyone else purchased these? The reason i ask is because I want to know if they are scaled a Guardsmen or a Space Marine.

The metal melta guns I have from GW are actually a tiny bit shorter and smaller around the barrel than the current plastic version, but the hand molded onto the gun is power armored, so you probably need to remove it for IG use.
Also, the plastic melta/plasma guns are identical in size for IG and SM.

It is Space Marine sized. Green Stuff the edge of the hand so it looks like he has a large glove on and make sure to paint it as such and it looks fine. These also allow very dynamic poses for IG. If you really hate the glove you can file off the SM hand and put the gun on an IG hand, but I kinda like it.

They are scaled to a space marine (so the catachans can use them as well, as they are close enough to them that their flamers work with SM and vice versa).

The hand is easily removed using plastic clippers as well.

I'll post some picswhen I get home tonight of some of my unfinished models (4 AM EST) to give you a basic idea. They're rough because I've been waiting for true primer to prime the metal parts as everything I've bought here that is "Really Seriously Definitely Primer" isn't primer and just peels off.

Not to rush or anything but are there any pics coming from anyone? I'd love to see how they look in comparison.

Also I'm using them for FW Elysians who are, if my memory serves me correctly, not the same scale as Cadians. Smaller and more realistically proportioned. Will there be any major problems?

Any plasma gun pics?

Most of my guards melta guns are from the metal marine ones. They work fine although like they said the SM hand looks like some kind of protective glove on a guardsman.

No plasma pics but it's the same deal. They look good and just have a fat hand/glove. I have just painted it the colors standard for gloves in my army and it hasn't been noticed yet that it's actually a power armor hand (blah blah space marines aren't to scale rant blah blah)

Would it look stupid if I clipped off the SM hand and lasgun off the guardsman hand and combined the two?

Another alternative to plasma guns is to use a bolter

Start by shaving off the middle portion. Replace it with green-stuff and give it the heat-sink look. Then replace the tip with whatever you see fit. I used the ends of IG flamers, but you should be able to use juse about anything.

If you are handy with GS, then you can take the remainder of the IG flamer and sculpt the melta-tip onto it.

EDIT: you may want to disregard what I said Elysians have a very specific look...

You are probably going to need some extra work with metal ones, plastic ones from IG Command squad are ideal but stll bear in mind that Elysians are as you said more realistically proportiones therefore a bit smaller than Cadians. Why dont you try the weapons set from FW which has weapons meant for Elysian scale?

Now, just to clarify, when people say Cadians/Catachans are "bigger," they mean out of proportion right? They're still the same height, right? If it is the case, then I personally don't see any problem using them as soon as that hand comes off.

Correct. Cadian and Catachans are sculpted in a "heroic" scale, FW models are in a more standard scale. That's why when you hold them next to each other the plastics have a slightly bloated "Uncle Fester" look to them, it's because their limbs and heads are slightly oversized to make their visual impact more dramatic, identifiable details easier to see and their heads/face more identifiably expressive.

Elysians by comparison have normal sized limbs and heads, but compensate by being made out of a higher detail material. So you have to look closer to "read" them, but the details are all still there in the end.

My order just came in, and I gotta say, the "SM hand," isn't actually all that much bigger than a guardsman's hand, even on an Elysian.
