Subject: Necron Royal Court members joining units AFTER the game has started

Scenario:
-An Overlord (Anrakyr) and a Cryptek (Chrono-tek) start the game running around together (just the two of them) as a mini unit.
-Shooting phase of turn one Tachyon Arrow is shot at a Land Raider. Miss is rerolled. Land Raider explodes. Mission accomplished.
-Turn two, both Overlord and Cryptek join a unit of Immortals.
Thus far, has everything been done legally?
(ran into a dispute regarding this scenario: it was argued that, while Anrakyr is an IC, and therefore will be able to join and leave units whenever he wishes, the Cryptek was not an IC, and therefore would not be able to join another unit after deployment).
Okay?/No?

You cannot attach a cryptek ever with an IC. In this scenario you are joining an IC with a royal court that consist of 1 cryptek. So no, that's all the units the IC is able to join, the Royal Court.
You could however attach the cryptek to the immortals and then have the IC join them.

You can only attach a Royal Court member to a unit at deployment. You cannot decide to do so later on.

Yep, Anrakyr drives up in his buggy, hops off, joins the Immortals - then that fire phase, takes his shot and rerolls. Next turn, hops back in his buggy and drives away.

Alright, so basically I could have the IC leave the Royal Court "unit" and join the Immortals, but then the Cryptek would be all on his own, unable to join anything.
*sigh*
Oh well, I guess I'll just have them both attached to the Immortals from the beginning of the game, then.
(or as Randall Turner suggested, have him hop in and out of his Catacomb Command Buggy)

I am glad the royal court members are not IC's, yeah there is the downside of not being able to attach to a unit mid game but there are so many up sides to it as well like not being singled out in CC.
