This is just beyond horrifying. Iv seen scary movies, and been in life and death situations but this scares the piss out of me the most.

How has she not been arrested for criminal negligence?
I know there are cases like this, I'm currently reading up on one here in Queensland where a 10-year-old girl was treated as a slave, wasn't fed and had nothing to wear but a sackcloth, so the case above certainly occurs in real life. But I think that, if this was real and not staged, this woman would be in custody rather than publishing and profiting from the story.

Well I've been working with kids like that for a few years now, and I'm not at all shocked or surprised. It's far more common than most people realize, and there is no shortage of new admissions at my work. (It's a residential treatment center, which is the politically correct term for a pediatric psych hospital) Early childhood neglect and abuse does a lot of damage if it happens in the first 5 years. At least the mom isn't a drug addict. The only thing worse than being gak for brains like that woman is being gak for brains like that woman + being a drug addicted whore. Most whores will actively or passively allow their john rape their children by not bothering to call the cops if it happens. Child molesters aren't dumb, it doesn't take a lot of brains to figure out a drug addicted whore that's neglecting her kids won't call the cops.
It's hard enough to deal with these kids when they are neglected at a young age, but when they are taken away from their mom at a slightly older age and/or after being sexually abused the kids are an absolute soup sandwich. I just hope the kid doesn't get reactive attachment disorder, it's so draining and difficult to work with kids that have RAD.

Pull your heads out of your backsides and look around you! People have begun to think that they can buy a good upbringing for their child, or substitute time spent with them with time on the X-box.
It is very easy to point and laugh/cry/criticise, but it is all around you, and there is a very good chance someone very close to you is neglecting their child, emotionally or physically

The show has to be fake. Although cases like this do exist, they have to have made this up otherwise the mother would (and should) be facing criminal charges.

I just watched the whole 6 parts of it. I want to kill this woman. I want to start a family when I am older, but how can I prepare for it if I land somebody this, who ends the relationship with me and puts my (currently hypothetical) children through hell?

But going all gung ho because of some Steve Wilkos show, is just as stupid as getting all pissed off when Steve-o from Jackass does something stupid. Or you can goto youtube, watch some fake shooting deaths vids, and cry your bleeding heart there as well. Either way

I also see that I don't show up as a DCM...so it's like epic ninja DCM trolling when I do it.

I've had a long battle with mine all my life. Comes of growing up with two teachers for parents, one of whom wasn't shy about correcting the kids mid-sentence. On the plus side, my verbal scores were always great, and my first part-time job as a teenager was in editing.

And now because of such cases we have a record number of children taken into care, 10,000 in the last year. Which if needed is fair enough, but I feel that there may be an aspect of people trying to cover their own backsides rather than taking the welfare of the child as their first priority.

My wife used to complain that I always had to be right: Then she met my Mother. After we had dinner that night on the ride home I just looked at her and said, "See, THAT'S where it comes from." I did score just a scotch below perfect on my SAT and ACT verbals...which almost made up for my dismal math scores. Can't win 'em all.
