Definately one of the best television series ever made. We wasted many a night in first year watching the Sopranos!

Never watched it, but dated the niece of one of the actors. I found out about 4 months into our relationship. I never knew who the actor was because I had no interest in the show, but she told me all about it after we started dating-still haven't seen it.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I dunno, I'm pretty sure he dies. The script originally had the guy in the VIP jacket approaching Tony from the bathroom (a reference to Michael Corelone coming out from the bathroom and shooting up those two guys in The Godfather) in an ominous way. However, the band Journey didn't want their song, Don't Stop Believing, to be associated with Tony's death so they had the writers cut off the scene earlier. That way I'd be more ambigious. The writers could believe that Tony died and the band could think he lived. But the original intent was for it to be clear that Tony's gonna get shot in the face.

No they left it open. It seems like the guy is going to kill Tony, but they cut it before it happens. So yea, Id agree that he DOES end up dying, but it doesnt happen in the show

I've never watched it, but I've had it recommended to me by my uncle several times...
The main theme song is called "Woke up this Morning" by Alabama 3, and its a fething awesome song... It was that show that got my uncle (and by extension, me) into that band, and a damn good band they are too

QFT.
Breaking Bad is the single greatest thing humanity has achieved.
As for The Sopranos, it's similarly amazing. I seem to recall David Chase having a go at some interviewer about how the fans were crazy for following this character for so long and then wanting him to die at the end. The ending itself didn't buzz me. I think it's very easy to leave things open but perhaps they still had notions of a film being made back then. Of course, killing or not killing TS is taking a moral standing on his lifestyle, the ambiguity of which was central to the show - so in that way leaving it open as they did makes sense to me too.
