I got 3 sealed ork battleforces sitting around and orks from aobr. Wondering if I should keep them until 6th ed is actually out or just sell them. Orks have always been on top of the armies I wanted to play in 40k. Maybe I should just play them anyways because it seems that to me gameplay is more enjoyable than winning. And having green tide pouring over enemy is always fun even if it ends in mass blob of green goo former know as boyz.

You got the kits, now go "loot" some vehicles and have some fun.

Orks will be my last army so that I have a massive amount of bits to do silly things.

Wait and see a sixth shake out if you aren't sure.

If you simply use all that, get two or three more trukks you will have a full-fledged kult of speed army. If you like orks, I see no reason to not play them. It's not like the entire army is going to implode just because of the new rulebook.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Well rumour has it that Infantry will be very strong in 6th ed.
No one does infantry like Orks
I say build them.
If the ap3 Power weapon rumor is true too, I'd be kitbashing some Mega armoured Nobs too.

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

I would hold off on any speculation. Even if we have the complete rules in our hands, it will take at least a month to find out if anything has become overpowered.

Thing is though, the Ork codex is so varied it can produce a decent list to meet any theme.
No matter what happens I think they'll cope.
They have no armour to speak of so changes to Ap mean nothing.
They usually operate under a KFF bubble so cover saves dropping to a 5+ is nothing to them and only hurts their opponents,
I think they're going to come out ahead in the change of editions.

Wait until the new rulebook releases...

GW's date was literally 6-23-2012. That's in less than 2 weeks. You won't even get your units modeled in that time, let alone have a list worked out.

Once it releases, then you think about whether or not you want to play them.

Yeah this kinda seems like a no-brainer. just wait and see what happens to the meta and whether you think orks will be competitive. There have been no rumors pointing toward an Ork update on the horizon so all you gotta do is sit pretty for two weeks.

I have a love /hate relationship with anything green.

Honestly, unless you are strictly a tourney competitor, I can see no reason NOT to build those boyz and use them.
Orks are a blast to play, and you already have the boxes.
This isn't even a real discussion. Just keep the Orks!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Of course, Orks could get nerfed in to the ground, and become the new Tau, but even then, they are a blast to build and paint.
No army has more character.

You know, the great thing about orks is that they generally are pretty balanced from what I've seen. They excel in cc, arnt so great at shooting, but can pull a rabbit out of a hat once and awhile with shooting. Tons of character, and some dead hard HQ and SC choices. Even if they get hit with the nerf bat this edition, it's still very possible that they will still be decent. I'd say go for it!

I tell you what, if those orks get nerfed into next week with the next edition, I'll loot-er I mean- take them off your hands no questions asked

All that said though, I would go ahead and keep them, although I wouldn't start building until the 6th edition is out and you get a feel for what will work. Even if GW nerfed the orks into the ground with 6th, they would probably get them a new codex soon, as they're one of the most popular armies. It'd be like if GW nerfed power armor. It'll never happen, because GW would never intentionally sabotage their key sellers

Ill wait for 6th edition for sure. Right now got necrons to work on. I got good deal on battleforces so will let them lay around until i can decide what can be done.

But no matter what 6th ed brings, I am leaning towards building an army anyways due to their great looking models, gameplay and fluff.

Orks are 40k's jacks of all trades. No matter what is going to be the new super-secret tech, orks won't suddenly turn into mono-build bottom feeders
