Ok, so pg. 80 of the new book states that, "Zooming flyers can fire up to four of their weapons using their full ballistic skill if they have moved at either combat speed or cruising speed that turn."

Aerial assault special rule (DE codex pg 46) states that, "Any vehicle with the aerial assault rule that moves at cruising speed may fire all of it's weapons."

The particular unit in question would be the DE razorwing Jetfighter as it comes standard with seven weapons. I'm assuming that the codex special rule overrules the BRB but wanted to run this by dakka to be certain.

Read the bit on missiles in the BRB.

I saw that and how they each count as a weapon and how only two may be fired per turn. My question would be if the Aerial Assault overrules that since it specifically states that you may fire ALL weapons and according to the BRB, each missile is a weapon and therefore fits into that category.

So I guess its a 2 part question.

Can I fire all seven weapons or just 4?

And does Aerial Assault overrule the limit to the number of missiles that can be fired per turn?

Specific always trumps general.

In this case the more specific rule is in the new BRB: you may only fire 2 of this particular weapon/ turn.

Whether you are given permission, generally, to fire all your weapons, or 4 of your weapons; you are specifically denied from firing more than 2 Missiles per turn.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Well, I guess for the time being I'm limited to five instead of seven.

Thanks for the help!

This is correct, note that Aerial Assault also only allows you to fire all your weapons, whereas, the new rulebook specifies you may only fire 4 of them at full BS, but others may still be snap fired, so Aerial Assaults allowance of firing all your weapons is meaningless, it doesn't change the fact that you can still only fire 4 of them at full Ballistic Skill.

edit: Note too that the rule has become broken for Ravagers, which, pending a fix in the FAQ, will only be able to fire 2 of their weapons at full BS when moving cruising speed, and will be forced to snap fire the third.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Sigh, not anymore. It is now codex trumps rulebook...

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

@Happyjew was it not the same wording in the 5e Dex? Most notably that I can find atm, Page 62; "...As normal, the rules in the Codex take precedence."

Page 74, as well "As this is just a summary, if any of the Codexes include
one of these special rules and the rule is different, the
one in the Codex takes precedence (representing how
the general special rule applies to that specific race)."

IIRC Specific Trumps General is simply an assumed part of Allowance-Based Games, the same as "Can't trumps Can" and "Replacements subvert Modifications".

Agreed that Codex will trump new BRB, as it is specific to that vehicle for that race. I mean , seriously , that codex isn't even through its infancey stage and 6th edition has already re-written enough to set the DE back from a finess army to aneeding a miracle army, let's not get too carried away and start pretending a new rule book over rides EVERYTHING....( OF course , I have'nt read the whole book and will surely find a page where it specifialy says that it Overrides all rules forever more, including the most recently made 5th ed codexes......)

FAQ's are out.

Razorwing & Voidraven lost Aerial assault.

Ravager Aerial assault now specifies Full BS for all weapons.
