Had this pop up in a game today where my space marines were fighting my friend's dark eldar. We'd both taken a couple quick skims through the rulebook, so we're wondering if we missed something for wound allocation, model removal, or things to do with ICs.
I shot a unit of wyches with an attached archon with bolters and a frag missile, Scored four wounds with the with bolters, and three with the missile. Wyches had no save, and so the closest four died. That then left the archon as the closest model to the firing marines, and as far as we could tell, that meant he had to save against all three missile wounds, one at a time, until he died and then the next closest model would have to deal with any remaining wounds.
Did we get something wrong, or is that how things are supposed to work out? If I had a devastator squad drop four frag missiles on a squad which hand an attached IC standing closest, would all of those missile wounds be piled onto the IC until he finally died from it before anyone else could be killed?

You have it exactly right. The one thing it seems like you missed however is the Look Out, Sir rule found on page 16. This allows you to have other models in the unit attempt to take some of the pressure off the character in front, and try to jump in and take saves for him.

We actually did remember, 'Look Out Sir,' and when that failed, were scratching our heads over, 'the squad took three frag missile wounds, but the archon is the only one that can be hurt?'

Also, Look Out, Sir rolls for IC are 2+, not the normal 4+, which is for characters.

You did it right. He could of passed on the wounds as well with "Look out Sir!" for each wound.

It looks like on pgs 52-53 that the models actually under the template must be wounded/removed. Unlike the pool from normal shooting. Pg 53 clearly shows having to resolve multiple hits against individual models from flamers.

That is just hits. Wounds are worked out as normal.
In fact it says that on p. 52 "Wounds inflicted by Template weapons are allocated following the normal rules."

Also the shooter decides which wounds are taken in what order, boltguns first or missiles first ect.
