Right, you lot. This is a thread for ork players to share their experiences and tips playing with the new 6th Ed rulebook and FAQ. Every thread I've managed to find has been mostly either speculative or rumormill type stuff made before the book came out or before playing any actual games.

Now that the collective Warbosses of Dakkadakka have had a chance to get a few games under their belts, let's follow the tried and true method of ork strategy: get us more boyz. Give us a nice big pool of tactics, tricks, what works and what doesn't in the new edition, and how to deal with the new tricks other armies now have up their sleeves.

We'll show them once and for all that we're the orks, and they are not.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
here's what I've managed to figure out, playing a game against Mechanized IG (victory) and Salamander flamermeltaspam (loss):

Works:

- Choppa-slugga boyz as 'ard boyz in a large mob are plenty capable of overwhelming overwatch.
- Trukk or BW mobs of shoota boyz fare the best against units with flamers, as they can bring them down before overwatch with the new wound allocation rules.
- Mobs of a dozen burna boyz fighting out of a trukk are incredibly effective
- Unless you're bringing a dakkajet, using a captured aegis defense line gives a fantastic defense against the airspam that is going to be pretty commonplace. Stick Lootas in there for cover, or for economy go with the most survivable gretchin you'll ever have.
- Nob Mobs may not have the wound allocation shenanigans they used to, but a mob consisting of painboy, a couple PKs then as many twin-link shootas and combi-scorchas as you can fit packs a very nice punch with the extended charge range.

Doesn't work:

-Any mob looking to specialize in melee of 15 boyz or less. Overwatch makes it so you'll fail the charge then get wiped out.
- Charging any unit with more than one flamer, if they've got AP on you. Overwatch combined with wound allocation stops every charge before it happens.
- Commandos. Snikrot's almost totally worthless, though I am curious to try out some fast-arriving sneaky dakkaboyz in my next match and see how that goes.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"
