I have been looking at various legions and have been unable to make a decision.
Opinions would be appreciated.

Depends what you want from a Legion really. You can justify anything really, including World Eater Havocs and Thousand Sons Bezerkers with a little background, so pick one you like, in terms of colour schemes, models or background

I'm going to start chaos a little later this year (Just grabbed a daemon army so I'll ally them =D) but I will be using the different legions for whatever unit we're talking. World eaters for berserkers normal PA csm you can really use any of them that you like, I'm debating word bearer's or iron warriors but it's dependent on how much and varied you want to paint.

Depends what you want...reading some of the other posts it looks like color is important. So just a pick a color you like and won't mind painting a lot of and go with it. There are plenty of different legion colors in the codex. Some are simple paint jobs, like the black legion, and others get crazy fancy. Just realize whatever you pick you paint a lot of. I am painting my slaaneshi army a bright pink, but find that I can't work on the minis as long because the bright pink starts to hurt my eyes. Khorne would get you reds, rusts, brass, copper and gold. Tzeentch forces have a lot of blues. I see slaanesh forces more in pastels from the old fantasy feel of slaanesh units. Nurgle forces are all browns and drab greens and oozy nastiness. Iron warriors are more silver/metal which when dry brushed over a black basecoat is a pretty fast paint scheme to apply. If color is what really matters to you then you really don't have to worry about the legions themselves. Just choose colors you like and find a legion that fits.

Perhaps alpha legion if the chaos release and chaos cultist rumours are true would be a good fluff army.

I would either go with black legion or the world eaters. Yes, all i really did was tell you what my favorite legions, but the world eaters savages of awesomeness, and the black legion is like the original chaos legion. It is your choice.

The default scheme that they use on the boxed set pictures (black and gold?) has always been my favorite. The red and gold of the World Eaters is pretty cool too.

Every time someone puts World Eaters and Emperor's Children or Deathguard and Thousand Sons in the same army, god kills a kitten. Don't be a kitten murderer! Think of the kitties!
I already play them as a matter of course, but hopefully the new codex will stear more people toward traditional mono-god armies by making them more viable under the rules.

Nope, Word Bearers are the original Chaos Legion.
