Hi all my name is mitch.
I am completely new to warhammer my partner has sisters of battle whitch hunters, after some browsing over her models and a rough painting of an ork i decided i would give it ago. This is whre i need your help i had a go at painting a high elf lothern sea guard and don't really think its for me. I like the look of chaos space marnines and i enjoyed painting the ork and like the detail level of orks but i still cant make up my mind orks or chaos space marines and advice and info would be great thanks .

If you can't decide on a painting basis whether to get Orks or Chaos Marines why not try looking at the other aspects of the hobby as a tiebreaker. You could have a look at the back story for the factions or decide upon which one you like most on how they operate on the tabletop. Flicking through the Codex is always a good idea, although it is rumoured that Chaos Space Marines are getting a new Codex at some point in the next few months. Hope this is useful.

Hmm.. Orks or Chaos... Tough one. Some good advice from Rampage - have a look at the backstories and see which one appeals to you more. If you like dark stuff that's really nasty and wants to consume all living things in the universe, then I'd say Chaos is the way to go.

Otherwise, if you have an over(under?)developed sense of humour, enjoy speaking like a space Cockney and have a penchant for green, then the Orks are for you, my friend!

Either way, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun finding out which one's for you

Hi, welcome. I've been playing Thousand Sons Chaos Space Marines for a long time.

If you're interested in the "evil space marines", it's good to know that most humans in Warhammer 40,000 never really meet a Space Marine. Some Chaos Space Marines just show up and recruit humans to their cause, and the humans are none the wiser about fighting alongside traitors. If you like that sort of cunning side to 40k's, bad guys.. CSMs might be your direction.

If you are quirky and really funny among friends, Orks might fit perfectly with you.
