So a friend wants to get either Black Templar's or Dark Angels. I think Black Templar's might be kinda cool but what are the Pros and Cons of Both of the Dark Angels and Black Templar's?

Well, since the DA codex is about to get redone, you'd be better off asking that question in 3-6 months. As it stands now there's nothing that could be seen as a Pro in the DA codex, that isn't outshined by the SM codex.

What about Black Templars. Are they any good and what are they good at? Are they getting a codex update in 6th?

Everything DA used to have for themselves have been given to everybody else......for now.
In 3-6 months it might look very different.

BTs are in for a bit longer wait, though they still have some things that are exclusive to them.

It's amusing to note that both are currently strongest if you emphasize terminators.

Right now, DA are best when they're gifting some other codex Fearless Scoring terminators with storm shields and a CML. You can play Deathwing, and for the time being people are freaking out over Terminator hordes, so you could get some mileage out of that.

BTs currently have the ability to take double CML terminator squads. Relentless Devs with a 2+ and tank hunters isn't bad. They also have the ability to bunker up with MSU oddly well, since they can take heavy and special at 5 strong on Crusader squads. Typhoon speeders also cost only 70. Basically, you can take a ludicrous amount of missiles for less than you'd expect and shoot people off the board.

I like DA myself although I am a bit confused on what their good at. I know they have raven wing and death wing and plasma. It doesn't really give me a clear picutre though. If their a shooty army why does all their higher ups sport 2handed swords and stuff. They seem to be all over the place. I really hope they theme them up like they did for space Wolfe and blood angels. Love to see a lot more native American theme on the termi's and maybe on the standard marines as well.

1. Terminator army with CMLs everywhere.
2. Divination Librarians
3.Actual Typhoon Speeders
4. Devastator squads. (Hear me out with an aegis line they become the quickest way to take out flyers.)

Pros. for BT
1. 5 man special heavy crusader squads.
2. Blessed hull
3. POTMS Vindicators
4. Dual CML terminator squads
