Got a question about Look Out Sir! From last night. Match was my IG vs. generic SM.

I dropped a pie plate dead on in a building on the second floor, netting me three models. The sergeant, a random bolter Marine, and his warlord, a SM captain. I rolled three wounds and he failed all his saves including his Captain's +4 invul save. So that's three. He then rolls his Look Out Sir save for the captain, using the random bolter Marine even though he's already dead, letting dead body bolter Marine soak up two of the three wounds. Is this how Look Out Sir works? Or did I get gyped out of killing his Warlord?

I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn
Lemme at least leave a good hoof beat they'll remember loud and long

If the unit has different saves, LOS is done before saves are taken. Additionally, unless you fired a barrage weapon, wound are allocated as normal.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

As soon as a model's wounds characteristic is reduced to 0 it is removed from play, this is on page 3 under "Zero-Level Characteristics." Since wounds allocated by Look out, Sir! are to available models within 6", no model can soak more wounds that it has (so, no you can't allocate a wound to an already dead marine). The timing of look out, sir rolls is as posted above.

Funny, only read part of the OP. No, a dead marine cannot take a wound via LO'S. LO'S could have been done if there was a marine on another level within 6"
