Subject: Charging FROM diff. terrain?

A guy at local store told me that if a unit is ALREADY in diff. terrain and want to assault a unit also in diff. terrain YOU DONT SUFFER THE NORMAL INI PENALTY FOR CHARGING TROUGHT COVER!
I looked throught the rulebook and i can't find anything to back it up.
So what'S the real thing?

Pg 22. top left paragraphs. In short, if you charge through difficult terrain your INI is 1

Just to reinforce Fragile, if even one of the assaulting units tippy toes where in the difficult terrrain at the start of the assault phase they strike at I1.

The thing that realy sucks is units that ignore terrain, like raveners, look like they still are at I1.

How so? If a unit ignores difficult/dangerous terrain, then they wouldn't be afffected by it and strike at initiative.

Because the rule doesnt say that they do. MTC doesnt address it and Beasts (raveners) simply say they are not slowed by difficult terrain (even when charging). Nothing addresses the INI issue.

If a model says that it actually ignores effects of difficult terrain, like C'Tan Shard does, then it is not reduced to Init 1 when charging through it.
Many people unfortunately say that "model ignores DT" when the rules actually say "model is not slowed by DT" which are two, completely different things. In latter case, unit obviously strikes at Init 1 if it moved through DT during charge move.

Actually the thing that changed this edition is that the rule for I1 was changed, before if you took a difficult terrain test you where I1, now the rules say that if you move trough it (slowed or not) you're I1 so not even ignoring it helps although that'll probably get FAQ-ed or harlequins are screwed.

Irrelevant - did you move *thruogh* the terrain? If so, you are reduced to I1. In short, 4th edition but I1 not defender raised to I10

Well if someone has a rule that ignores the effects of Difficult Terrain, then its a good argument that it ignores the INI 1 penalty. However, in this case it doesnt say that.
