I know this sounds dumb but who is imotekh? I have heard so many people say his name is he apocalypse what does he do?

He's an HQ choice in the Necron Codex.

He is hell. And cheap. But I'd love him if I was a Necron player!

He is a piece that will ruin your opponents day!!! Some people will bash him but he is a nasty piece to put on the table... besides him my other favorites are Zandrekh and Trazyn... both have nasty special rules as well.

Zandrekh and Imotekh together is just evil, take away night vision from an enemy squad(and a bunch of other USRS with it) and then give night vision to a squad of your so they aren't hindered by Imotekh's night fighting.

To answer the OPs question:
Imotekh is a named overlord in the Necron codex, he forces night fighting to be in effect during any game he is in and it can last up until turn 6(can't continue after the end of 5), during the night fighting he causes lightning bolts to attempt to strike enemy units. He also allows you to steal initiative on a 4+ rather than a 6 unless you are fighting Orks. He does a bunch of other things as well but those are some of the big things.

As TheAvengingKnee said, Imotekh forces nightfighting and does a ton of other cool little tricks.

The reason people talk about him and hate him is his lightning ability in the codex. To sum what it does; while the Night Fighting rules ramain in play, roll a D6 for each unengaged enemy unit on the battlefield at the start of each Necron Shooting phase. On a roll of a 6, that unit is struck by a bolt of lightning and suffers D6 Strength 8, AP 5 hits (vehicles are hit on their side armour).

What I find is the more points in the game the more valuable Imotekh becomes.

Several times now he has single handedly almost tabled my opponent turn 1.

If the dice gods like you, you can get lucky and 6 str 8 ap 5 shots to any unit or vehicle can seriously cripple it. Thus Imotekh is nice for those times.
