If a barrage weapon direct fires, do units take cover from center of blast still, or from ditectiom of firer?

Centre of the Blast.

The meaning of Direct and Indirect Fire has changed in 6th edition. Instead of the more traditional flat vs. arcing trajectory of the shot, it's now more Can See vs. Can't See the target with the shot always being an arcing trajectory.

Direct fire blast weapons take wounds closest to the firer.

Barrages fire in a arc. Blasts fire straight ahead.

"Because 6th edition is the ruleset that 40k fans deserve, but not the one they need right now... and so we'll argue over minutia... because GW can take it... because faqs and erratas require effort and money... they remain a silent rule maker, a neglectful protector... a Space Marine fanboy..."

pg 34 Barrage

All barrage weapons use blast markers and consequently use the rules for blast and large blast weapons, as indicated in their profile, with the following exceptions.

second bullet point. To determine wheter a unit wounded by a barrage weapon is allowed a cover save, and when determining wound allocation, always assume the shot is coming from the center of the blast marker, instead of the firing model.

The weapon is always a barrage weapon not an ordinance weapon with a barrage option.
