Hey guys I don't like the high elf great eagle model so I am thinking of using wood elf war eagle riders instead obviously without the rider.
Couple of questions
1 is there a big size difference?
2 would I need to change the bases on them?
3 I have spoken briefly to the local gw store manager and as long as its a gw model and my opponent doesn't mind and knows what they are he is happy for me to use them.
But would I be able to use then in a tournament?

1- Don't think its big enough to really matter, but perhaps a WE player will be along in short order to correct me.
2- I was going to direct you to the GW site for base sizes, because I thought they had taken to posting the supplied base size with each model, only to find that this isn't true for the Wood Elf range.
3- I see this kind of question fairly frequently, and the answer should almost always be- "Ask the tournament organizer." There are a lot of tournaments out there these days (especially in the UK if I understand correctly) and they can all differ. I think, generally speaking it should be OK, but if you have your eye on a particular tournament, you should just ask that organizer.

I use both my eagles and my Warhawks on 40mm bases, and I've never had any issues with opponents because of that.

What is the size difference, I.E. Could hawks be used as eagles.

The warhawk is slightly less bulky than the eagle - unsurprisingly if you look at an ornithological book.
If your question is will anyone object from a gaming point of view - probably not as long as it is on the correct base.

Cool cheers I'm concerned if I went to a gw organised tournament but hopefully will be fine. They are such better models (cheaper too)

I highly doubt anyone will notice unless you actively point it out, and even then they likely will not care and think its real cool.
