I haven't actually played a game of 6 ed. yet, but I've seen that everyone seems to be thinkning that vendettas and manticores are the new black, will this list be competitive?

Running 3 vendettas with astro and OotF seems a little dangerous. If your enemy has fliers, you'll get all those 1st, only to lose them when he brings his on later. Or if you're really unlucky, they'll come on before you've taken out the AA.
Imo, astro and OotF are traps for a flier heavy list. Spend the points elsewhere.

Also, why so many chimeras when you're using 3 vendettas? You could probably lose one or two and deep strike some demo vets into a better position than the chimera could get them.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

Yeah, when I've surfed around, I've seen that a lot of people are a bit negative about the advisors. As I haven't played 6ed yet, I might have underestimated the amount of AA people bring.

Dropping them both will give me 60 pts. With that I can make my camping vetsquad into something more useful, or just add it to the free points, giving me 140, which could give me a min-sized inf. platoon, which I can use to get people in the flying taxis.

Or, i could use it to beef up my last vet. squad to a lascannon and some plasma, that'll cost 55 pts.

I plan to use the chimeras as protection for my firebase in the first turns, just to halt rushes before my air cav. swoops in. Also, I got the models, and they're nicely painted

Having a vet squad with just an autocannon seems a bit of a waste. I'd give them some more weapons.

Yeah I'd definitely ditch to advisers. The heavy weapons in the vet squads aren't my thing, I prefer my vets to be pretty mobile. Giving them 20pts worth of heavy weapons always makes me tempted to sit and snipe. 20pts isn't far from giving the vets a doctrine which can make them considerably more durable, especially if you drop them from a vendetta.

Another platoon isn't a bad idea, they can sit on home objectives and pump out a surprisingly large amount of fire power. The PCS can be upgraded to whatever niche you feel you need. 4 flamers are a favorite of mine.

Flonky: yeah, but there was a bit of a shortage on points

If I ditch the advisors however, I can make them as shooty as I'd like.

Well if you have a shortage of points, why not drop the HB sponsons on the vendettas? They should spend most of their time engaging armour anyways.

3 scoring units in a 1750 game is really risky. You vets are squishy and losing 2 of them (likely) means you pretty much cannot capture enough objectives to win.

Need more troops.

@Flonky: as I've got a bit of AT in the ground forces, mainly the manticores I want the vendettas to be able to fire at inf. if the need be depending on how the battle swings, what they can see (being fliers) and if the enemy hasn't got much in the way of armour after a couple of turns.

@Glocknall: Yeah, I've been dreading that. I've understood that there's some scenarios when my HS and FA will be able to score, but here's a list that tries to mitigate this:

HQ:
Company command squad, 3 plasma, chimera: 150 pts.
Company command squad, 3 melta, chimera: 135 pts.

Troops:
Min. platoon, 2 flamers on the PCS: 140 pts..
Vet squad, 3 plasma, lascannon: 135 pts.
Vet squad, 3 plasma, lascannon: 135 pts.
2x Chimera: 110 pts.

FA:
Vendetta, HB sponsons: 140 pts.
Vendetta, HB sponsons: 140 pts.
Vendetta, HB sponsons: 140 pts.

HS:
Leman Russ demolisher, plasma sponsons: 205 pts.
Manticore: 160 pts.

I would place the infantry squads in the vendettas for late game objective grabs. They should be well protected in the zooming flyers until your ready to deploy them.

Yes, that is the general plan, sorry for not mentioning it.
