Has anyone played this? It seems to have that classic "interesting game no one plays" death rattle that Tabula Rasa and others non-WoW MMOs have had over the years. Basically, it's a modern day MMO set in a world of intrigue, investigation, and zombies. Something along the lines of X-Files or Dark Matter.
I've been playing it since about a week after its launch. I really like it; the classless/pseudo-levelless system is pretty interesting, it includes actual stealth, puzzle, and investigation missions and the dungeons are actually challenging.
I'm a big fan. I don't even care if it's not super-popular, I just want it to do well enough to be around for a while and receive content updates.
I put a month in but sold out for guild wars. Overall, I think it is my favorite MMO since Champions launched - I just know a lot more people who favor GW2. It is a very well polished game with an interesting take on MMOs, that will ultimately fail because it isn't the same old thing. The first couple of zones are amazing - there are quests that require serious thought (including one where I briefly taught myself morse code in order to solve it) and the 5 man dungeons are awesome. I guess I tapped out when I had to go to Egypt - I spent enough of my life in the desert with brown people trying to kill me that it isn't particularly fun to simulate in video games. However, I hear Transylvania is amazing and I fully intend to go back once they do away with the month subscription.
I played through this game in the beginning levels. Theres a zombie infested town in Rhode Island, somewhere. (Innsmouth.) I'm over at and had to stop around a place called "The Savage Coast".
Love the game. It is well past X files and puts you dead into a Stephen King/ Clive Barker novel. I had to stop playing because one of my side jobs came to an end. (No MMOing while your getting shot at for realz, LOL.)
The atmosphere of the game is dead on. If you like those Conspiracy X, Call of Cthuhlu, Delta Green type games- This one is on par.
Its not a funny hah hah type of game. Its more of a funny as in Where did that severed head come from, kinda hah hah. Not as balls out as the first Resident Evil, but pretty close.
I hope it does well and stays around, I really want to see how it evolves if it does.
Its kinda like playing a Call of Cthuhlu game. except you are already past crazy.
One of the issues it has is the damn monsters. Some of them are in the WTF realm. They are so cheese that they take away from the game, a little.
The "Secret Society" thing is pretty cool, I especially liked Five Points in NYC. The rendition is missing a few dope heads and garbage in the streets, but essentially the Big Apple is fun and nice to see in that light.
At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.
The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

I played the free trial and then bought it as well as a month. I really liked it a lot, but I did not have a lot of friends playing so it kind of died out for GW2 and LoL. I may keep it as my Sub MMO when I get more steady pay though.
Secret World is half-off on Steam until the fourth, so two days. I'm very tempted...
